The average airfare: $214, compared with $205 last year. The average price for a hotel that's comfortable but not quite upscale: $161 a night, compared with $154 last year.

Even though most people consider gasoline prices over $3.50 too high, current gas prices aren't likely to deter anyone who wants to take a trip, because they are lower than they were in 2012, according to AAA Wisconsin.

In Wisconsin, the average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.54, 35 cents lower than last year.
