<html>A last, the 11-year old chieftaincy tussle of Mambilla chiefdom in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State has finally brought to an end following the coronation and presentation of staff of office to Dr Shehu Baju II as the Chief of Mambilla.

The occasion which took place at Muhammadu Mansur Stadium, Gembu, Mambilla Plateau, in Sardauna Local Government Area was described as the largest crowd ever at such an event.

Umar recalled that the appointment of Dr. Baju II was due to the demise of Alhaji Muhammadu Mansur.

He commended Governor Danbaba Suntai for resolving the chieftaincy tussle through an agreement whereby the Chief of Mambilla would be rotated between Audu Baju and Muhammadu Mansur ruling houses and urged the people of the town to support and cooperate with the new chief to ensure peace in the land.

In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, former President Ibrahim Babangida, represented by Air Vice Marshal Ndatsu Umar, congratulated the people of Mambilla Plateau for their resolve to settle the 11-year-old chieftaincy tussle in their domain.

Babangida said with the coronation and presentation of staff to Dr. Baju II as the Chief of Mambilla, peace had finally being restored in Mambila chiefdom.

In a key note address at the occasion, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Wazirin Sardauna, Honourable Marafa Bashir Abba, who shed more light on the chieftaincy tussle, regretted that since the stool became vacant in 2002, it had remained a great challenge and source of worry to the government and the people of the area.

He noted that with the initiative and coronation, the Mambila Plateau had taken its rightful position as the home of peace and Nigerian tourism destination.
