My neighbors were relieved that the occurrences out at the PEPCON plant were just simple fuel and or gas explosions. For me, I saw that huge mushroom cloud of smoke. I knew the ammonium perchlorate cloud was most likely extremely dangerous. This chemical gave these explosions at PEPCON all the potential to have, at least some of the same effects as fuel-air bombs, or otherwise known as the poor man s nuclear bomb here in the Henderson and Las Vegas valley regions.
