| + | == Ogbonnaya Onu- APC Presidential Candidate' ll Reflect the Po == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html><br> | ||
| + | Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu was national chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party. He was among the initiators of the All Progressives Congress, a merger of three former political parties, ANPP, Action Congress of Nigeria, and Congress for Progressive Change, as well as factions of All Progressives Grand Alliance and Democratic Peoples Party. In this interview with Onyebuchi Ezigbo, Onu speaks on the coming of APC and its plans and objectives going forward. Excerpts: | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Could you recount your experience during the negotiations for the All Progressives Congress merger? <br> | ||
| + | I never had issues with anyone; it was a very peaceful process. Our party never had any crisis, except the ones we inherited from the previous leadership before I came on board. But we were able to sort out these issues just in good time before embarking on the merger. We adhered strictly to the provisions of our constitution. For the merger negotiations, we were able to carry everybody along. It was true that quite a number of people outside tended to say, oh, because of the past issues in ANPP there will be problem if the party joins the merger. But I kept assuring them that what we had was the new ANPP and that the new party leadership should be trusted and that we have done everything possible to merit that trust. We played very important role in making sure that the merger pulled through.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | What was the most challenging stage of the merger process?<br> | ||
| + | The most challenging aspect of the merger, I think for the three political parties, was the effort to make sure that all members of the parties agreed to drop their identities. This is why the merger is unique and very difficult. Whereas you can have alliance, whereby you can work together and at any time you do not like to continue, you break it and still be on your own. But in merger, you are giving your identity and all those who hold party positions will give them up. So you can see that it is not an easy decision to make. So that was the most important challenge that we had, but we are grateful that we surmounted it, while carrying everybody along. Our conventions were very successful as witnessed by INEC.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | What can APC do to prove wrong the wide insinuation that the choice of a presidential candidate ahead of 2015 would make or mar the party?<br> | ||
| + | I would like to address the issue by saying that in the process of applying for registration at INEC, APC went through a lot of challenges. Many Nigerians did not give it a chance but I can understand their fears; based on historical experience this has not happened before, for parties to agree to lose their identities. But God has been with us and we have been overcoming these challenges one after another until, finally, we were registered. So I think that the issue of electing our presidential candidate will be handled in a way for us to win the election. Do not forget we will be contesting against the ruling party. We must do all in our capacity to ensure that the candidate we choose will be able to match that of the PDP. I am very optimistic that we will overcome the challenge.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Are you confident that APC would choose its candidate through a truly democratic process?<br> | ||
| + | APC has a constitution, which INEC requested for as many as 35 copies and I believe that we are expected to abide by that constitution. We are happy that our constitution is very detailed. By adhering strictly to it, there will be no problems. If you look at APC now, the party has a constitution which INEC requested for during our registration and I believe we will abide by that constitution. I do not foresee any problem in doing that. Remember that while I was the national chairman of ANPP the emergence of our presidential candidate in 2011 was very smooth and peaceful. The reason was that we adhered strictly to the spirit and letter of our constitution and I would suggest that everything should be done to ensure that the will of the people is allowed to determine the presidential candidate. So nobody complained about the process. If the process is clean and is in accordance with the constitution of the party, those who lose will be able to accept the outcome and congratulate the winner. This is what I pray should happen in APC. Let us not be thinking about what happened in the past within the three parties. We should be looking at the present and the future and the important thing is that we are resolved to ensure that the emergence of the flag bearer of APC will reflect the will of the majority of party members and the interest of Nigerians.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | How would you explain the crisis that trailed the formation of APC s interim national leadership?<br> | ||
| + | I will say that so many people made important contributions in the course of the negotiations for the merger. Many persons at all levels also contributed to make the merger successful. For some of us, I believed that God used us to start the process that led to the merger. You remember that in the past, similar efforts that were made to have an alliance never worked, but this particular one became successful. I will in all humility thank God for using my person to start it by seeking audience with the leadership of ACN. It was that initial interaction we had shortly after I became the national chairman of ANPP that resulted in what we now have as APC. After that initial meeting, we then realised that time was not on our side and immediately after the matters revolving around the 2011 general elections were dispensed, I again initiated the unification talks and everyone among us embraced it. But while this was going on, there was no time I nursed the ambition that at the end of the day, I will be made the national chairman of the party. And when we got to the stage of sharing out interim offices, we were guided by the requirement of the electoral law, which states that a party must derive its membership from at least two-third of the states. In doing so, we decided to have 25 or more national officers, which was enshrined in our constitution. We then proceeded to share the positions nine each among the three parties that applied for merger. It was shared nine each and then the remaining eight slots were shared between APGA and DPP groups in the merger. In determining who got what position, we decided that ACN, which has six states under its control, should produce the interim national chairman and eight other slots. ANPP with three states got the national secretary position along with eight other offices, while CPC was allotted the national treasurer seat with additional eight slots.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | What is your ambition in APC,[http://wiki.mathenary.com/index.php/%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EC%9E%90:Llbiedihsqu#Kansas_City_Chiefs_53 Kansas City Chiefs 53]?<br> | ||
| + | I cannot talk about the future, but for now, my desire is to make APC a very strong party that Nigerians can see as a real alternative to the ruling party. A party that has the capacity to govern, a party that can be trusted and one that Nigerians will be able to say, yes, we have tried the ruling party for the past 14 years, now let us try APC. So my current ambition is to do all I can to assist the interim leadership to see that all is done to build the APC to the level that it can produce the next leadership for the country.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | How would you assess the support APC among your native Igbo people? Do you think APC is a veritable platform for the realisation of the dream among some Igbo to have one of their own as Nigerian president in 2015?<br> | ||
| + | The Igbo are reacting positively to the formation of APC and Nigerians and all those who reside in the country believe very strongly that it is not good for us to put our eggs in one basket. APC offers us an opportunity to stir our nation into a strong, peaceful and prosperous country. So our advice remains that the Igbo should not put all their eggs into one basket and that all Nigerians should embrace APC. Indeed, many people are showing interest in joining the new party, but do not forget that the party has just been registered.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Would you contest for the APC presidential ticket?<br> | ||
| + | No, the issue of presidential ticket or one s ambition is not before us now. We all know that election may be held sometime in 2014, subject to the conclusion of the ongoing amendment in the Electoral Law. I believe that until that happens it is not ripe to talk about ambitions. But I think, definitely, the Igbo, like any other group that make up this great country, have the constitutional right to run for the presidency in 2015. And I think that APC is the appropriate party with the national spread to enable the Igbo to actualise their dreams. I think APC offers the Igbo a very wonderful opportunity, even if it is not realised now, there is nothing bad in our making the attempt and then see if we can actualise that in the future.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | What would you consider your greatest achievement as ANPP national chairman?<br> | ||
| + | I would not like to be the one to rate my performance in ANPP. I will rather prefer that other people do that. We met an ANPP that was almost polarised by internal squabbles, however, by the grace of God as we were leaving, we had a party that was united without any factions. It is very difficult to find any other political party in the country without factions. In ANPP, virtually all the key leaders of the party were intact both at the national and zonal levels. Some prominent politicians were coming back to the party on daily basis. Not one person left the party again, instead people were coming back to join us. Also we discovered that the working relationship we had with the ruling party was creating a lot of problems up to a point that some of the members who were given appointments by the federal government resigned from the party to join PDP. The situation brought about an identity crisis for ANPP and in the eyes of the public, they were not sure whether it was ANPP or whether we were an extension of the ruling party. So we needed to immediately pull back with the support of majority of the party members. We are happy that we achieved that and gave ANPP an identity as a party that now stood on its own to the extent that nobody ever thought that the party was an extension of PDP. We had also played a very important role to get APC registered. There are quite a number of achievements, but like I said, it is left for people to do the rest of the assessment.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | What is your reaction to the allegation in some quarters that APC is peopled by old politicians and offers nothing unique in terms of ideology and manifesto?<br> | ||
| + | APC has put together a very good ideology and manifesto. INEC has a copy and also the constitution of the party is very unique for so many reasons. For instance, this is the only party in the country that has leadership structures at the local, ward and polling unit levels.<br> | ||
| + | Let me address this issue of strange bed fellows. The Alliance for Democracy and All Peoples Party, for those who are conversant with the genesis of these parties, would have been been one party. But as APP was to be presented to the public at the Old Parade Ground then, our brothers from the South-west left to form the AD. So you can see that the merging of the parties is something that would have happened as at 1998. And let me also point out something that many people may not easily remember. When the three parties ACN, CPC and ANPP formed their merger committees, Chief Tom Ikimi, who was a foundation member of the then APP, was chairman of the ANPP merger committee. There was Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, former Kano State governor on the platform of ANPP, and then the CPC merger committee chairman, Alhaji Garba Gadi, was the deputy governor of Bauchi State under the ANPP. So you can see that there is no justification for anyone saying that these people are incompatible. We are compatible and the manifesto of APC reflects that compatibility.<br> | ||
| + | It is not true also that key promoters of APC are not compatible. For example, Senator Bola Tinubu, a great Nigerian, a two-term governor of Lagos State, was a foundation member of AD, a party that would have been united with APP if not for the last minute changes that saw them registering as separate entities. Now, General Muhammed Buhari, a former Head of State and another great Nigerian, he ran on the platform of ANPP on two occasions. Senator Ali Modu Sheriff was also a two-term governor of Borno State on the platform of ANPP. All these people are important in the emergence of the APC. In APC, we have so many important personalities and we treat everybody with respect. We accord all with the honour they deserve. All of them are very experienced both in politics and governance in the country.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Would you subscribe to the adoption of zoning or consensus in the selection of APC s candidates?<br> | ||
| + | Our position is very clear. By accepting zoning we want to ensure that every part of the country is accommodated and that none is left out in the scheme of things. That every part of country is given a sense of belonging in the affairs of the party. So it is not even only for elective positions, in every appointive position, the issue of equity and balance will always prevail. This will ensure that all are given a sense of belonging. Even our consitution has provisions on how to ensure balance in the sharing of positions in the party so that everybody will feel a sense of belonging. Secondly, the APC as constituted now is the only party that can say that it is truly a national party. This is because we are presently controlling at least a state in each of the six geographical zones of the country. The ruling PDP as at now, even though they have more states, they are not national in the true sense of it because it does not have any state under its control in the South-west. Because of the national outlook of APC we must be very careful how we handle issues.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | How would you react to the labeling of APC as a Muslim party in some quarters because of the perceived domination of its interim management committee by Muslims?<br> | ||
| + | In constituting the interim management committee, we had to do this to meet the requirement of INEC for registration and we shared it to all the parties and then the parties went and selected those that would fill their slots. So you can see there was no ulterior motive in how it was done. If there had been an election and people campaigned for some time, such things as religious bias would not have arisen. But in terms of balancing, out of 35 positions, we have 18 as Muslims and 17 as Christians. We agree that certain groups were more,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/ New 2013 NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Offer Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys], but what we are telling Nigerians is to give more time, the interim leadership by our constitution will not be there for long. During our convention these issues can be corrected.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | How would you rate the performance of President Goodluck Jonathan in the last two years?<br> | ||
| + | For most of us in APC, we are not looking at just the performance of President Goodluck Jonathan in the last two years but we are talking about the state of affairs since the past 14 years of PDP leadership as a whole. We know what the situation has been and currently, our country may not be at war, yet peace has eluded us. We have a problem of high unemployment rate and we are told the economy is buoyant and yet no jobs for our teaming youths. We see ourselves as a consuming nation with essentially just one product for export. Nigeria is blessed with crude oil, but we import refined products. That is why we are saying that Nigerians should give opportunity to APC to be on board and govern so that by that Nigerians will be able to judge the two. It will help those who are in government to sit up knowing that if they do not they can be shown the way out. Look at Ghana; they have done that a number of times. The present government in Ghana was previously in opposition but now they are in charge of affairs in that country. The next time they will go back to opposition if they do not perform well. That is what is called competition in the political arena.<br> | ||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Do you subscribe to the idea of a two-party system in the country?<br> | ||
| + | We in APC are interested in having effective competition in the political arena. If you look at the situation in the telecommunication sector, when it was only NITEL, people will be dialing their handsets but there was no dialing tone. If you were in the rural areas,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-c-598 Official Nike NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Wholesale NFL Jerseys At Cheap Price], you may not have access to telephone services at all and yet only very few Nigerians had telephone. But all that changed with the liberalisation of the sector. So we think that once there is competition many of the problems which since independence have remained unsolved will receive attention. We believe that with emergence of APC, the polity will witness competition. There could still be other smaller parties, but let there be two strong parties that will have the capacity to form government.</html> | ||

| + | |||
| + | <html>There it is, unprompted. In addition to putting a computer on every desk, Steve Ballmer is most proud of do[ing] a good job for [Microsoft's] shareholders. And,[http://bbs.ylmdo.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=366090 Perdue tinkers with enzymes to pump poultry], by definition, shareholders care about dollars and cents. | ||
| + | |||
| + | And so, dollars and cents were a central focus for Ballmer, and for Microsoft. Employees were incentivized by dollars and cents in the form of bonuses and stock grants. Bonuses and stock grants were tied to a stack ranking system, that devolved your performance to a number. What was measurable mattered, particularly if it was measured in money. | ||
| + | |||
| + | The result is inevitable: Microsoft is a company filled with people motivated by measurables like salary, bonus, and job level. Anyone who isn t would necessarily leave. Unsurprisingly, said people make choices based on measurables, whether those be consumer preferences, focus group answers, or telemetrics. The human mind is flexible, but only to a point. | ||
| + | |||
| + | In other words, over time, as you incentivize your workforce through measurables, you eventually have a workforce that only thinks in measurables. You ultimately have a workforce of mini-Ballmers. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Yet, if Apple s success has proven anything, it s that measurables aren t the half of it. Things like design can t be measured, nor can user experience. How do you price delight, or discount annoyance? How much is an Apple genius worth? | ||
| + | |||
| + | In the consumer market, it s the immeasurables that matter. It s the ability to surprise and delight, and create evangelists. It s about creating something that , and that consumers implicity trust. The consumer market is about everything you can t measure, everything Microsoft s legion of mini-Ballmer s can t see and will never appreciate. | ||
| + | |||
| + | It turns out that all of Ballmer s good qualities, especially when it came to maximizing revenue and profits,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/ New 2013 NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Offer Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys], were also his worst qualities,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657 Nike NFL New York Giants Wholesale On NFL Jerseys Store], especially as the consumer market came to dominate computing. | + | He remembers every detail about the day: how his mother let him take the car to go to a school homecoming 20 miles away in Sumter County; how he had left his clarinet behind and couldn t march with his school s band in the parade; how the store was right off of Highway 378; and how terrified he was when he stared at the end of the gun. | ||
| + | The guy told us how much we owed him and we disagreed with the price that he was charging us. We knew how to add it added up to less money than he told us we owed him, Clyburn told BuzzFeed. We ended up paying him what it cost, what was on the labels. And we walked out of the store. I got to the car and started to turn the ignition and the man came out with Colt 45 pistol and put it on the window of the car. He said, You boys owe me 50 more cents with a pistol in my face. My two friends jumped out of the car yelling and crying and gave him the rest of the money they had on them more than 50 cents. And we took off. It was a harrowing experience. | ||
| + | As the nation commemorates the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington this week, Clyburn, 73, said he feared too many people today were giving in to what Martin Luther King Jr. called the tranquilizing drug of gradualism and forgetting the details of the past. | ||
| + | Citing events of the last year from new voter ID laws in states across the country to the recent Supreme Court decision to invalidate part of the Voting Rights Act and the shooting death of Trayvon Martin the South Carolina Democrat said he was fearful that a younger generation was becoming too complacent. Members of Congress, like himself and Georgia Rep. John Lewis, have spoken out forcefully against new voting laws and the Supreme Court decision, pledging to work to come up with a legislative fix that will prevent states from implementing laws he believes are intended to depress minority voter turnout. But he said he was concerned by a lack of engagement outside of Congress. | ||
| + | His sentiment was echoed during a on the National Mall, where many speakers implored young people and the thousands gathered to become more involved and politically active. | ||
| + | These are the kind of things that are happening today, we thought they were behind us,[http://ischoolgu.xmu.edu.cn/wiki/index.php/User:Lphqrmynogg#Sounders_tip_rival_Timbers_in_front_of_record_crowd Sounders tip rival Timbers in front of record crowd], Clyburn said. So I m hopeful that this will be a call for us to learn the lessons of our past and at least conduct ourselves as if we ve learned those lessons I don t think there s an urgency of what s happening now. I don t think people see the correlation between today and 50 years ago. While we are commemorating I hope we re not celebrating. | ||
| + | Clyburn also spoke about the conversations he has had with his children and grandchildren about racism and sexism as it exists today. While much has changed since he was growing up, Clyburn said these conversations remain something that most African-Americans have with their children. | ||
| + | I have a grandson and I have talked with him about the way he conducts himself and the way he reacts to things. I ve tried to be real with him. I told my daughter when she first left home to go away to school, I had a conversation with her that most African-American parents have with their children. I told her when she got to school that a lot of things were going to happen to her that were positive, and I said a lot of things that would happen to her that were negative. You re a woman and you re black, those will never even out. Those are things that you have to work to overcome, Clyburn said. | ||
| + | It s an added burden that black children have that white children don t have, he said. | ||
| + | He was cautiously optimistic that Congress would come up with a new formula for the Voting Rights Act. The Supreme Court ruled in June that several states with histories of racial discrimination would no longer have to seek federal approval to change their voting laws, ruling that the model used to determine which states should face that regulation was old and outdated. | ||
| + | Clyburn said there was urgency among the black, Hispanic, and Asian-American caucuses in the House to come up with a solution, but he did not see that urgency elsewhere. | ||
| + | I think it s possible that we ll do what s necessary to protect [the] Voting Rights Act. I don t hold it against the Supreme Court for saying the data was old and should be updated,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657 Nike NFL New York Giants Wholesale On NFL Jerseys Store], and I think the invitation is there for us to fix it. I disagree the data was old, he said. | ||
| + | Because of his work as a schoolteacher, Clyburn did not attend the March on Washington 50 years ago but was active in demonstrations and recently wrote in a USA Today although my body was in South Carolina, like millions of Americans, my heart and soul were in Washington, D.C. He ll attend multiple events surrounding the anniversary, including a speech on Wednesday by President Barack Obama. | ||
| + | And Clyburn says he hopes people will pay attention. | ||
| + | My history students used to ask, Why do we have to spend all this time talking about things that happened way back when? Those things are never going to happen again. Well, I m not too sure they wont happen again,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/ New 2013 NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Offer Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys], he said.</html> | ||

| + | == Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to retire within 12 months == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html>Call it the end of an era. Friday, Microsoft announced that Steve Ballmer will be retiring within the next 12 months, bringing his 13-year run as CEO of the company to an end. | ||
| + | “There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time,” Ballmer said in . “We have embarked on a new strategy with a new organization and we have an amazing Senior Leadership Team. My original thoughts on timing would have had my retirement happen in the middle of our company’s transformation to a devices and services company. We need a CEO who will be here longer term for this new direction.” | ||
| + | Ballmer, of course, recently refocused Microsoft in order to drag the PC stalwart into the faster-moving mobile age, initiating drastic sea changes such as the device-spanning ,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-c-598 Official Nike NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Wholesale NFL Jerseys At Cheap Price], a rather than 3-year development cycles, "," an increased focus on , and the launch of —Microsoft's first foray into competing with its manufacturing partners. | ||
| + | Any of those could be considered a major shakeup. All of those combined constitute a near-complete reimagining of Microsoft. | ||
| + | Those monumental changes may be the reason for Ballmer's retirement, according to Patrick Moorhead,[http://zxmwd.uueasy.com/read.php?tid=690118 Special election to replace Goodall in Maine Senate], the principal analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy and an industry veteran who held senior leadership roles at AMD and Compaq. He finds the 12 month search for a successor suspicious. | ||
| + | "Somebody pissed somebody off,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/ New 2013 NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Offer Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys]," Moorhead says. "Potentially it was [for Surface RT tablets]. If I had to bet money, I'd say that?that was the straw that broke the camel's back." | ||
| + | Moving forward and looking back | ||
| + | No matter what the reason for Ballmer's departure,?the newly molded Microsoft will have a new CEO to lead it—sometime.The exact date of Ballmer's retirement is unknown, as he plans to step down once his successor is determined. | ||
| + | Who, exactly, will carry the torch forward is up in the air. Plenty of potent leaders still call Microsoft home, but the short list of possible CEOs has certainly shortened in recent years, as high-profile Microsoft executives like Ray Ozzie, Stephen Elop, and have all left the company. | ||
| + | Whoever takes over the reins will have some mighty big shoes to fill. Ballmer was Microsoft's 30th?employee and its first business manager, and for all the grief tossed Ballmer's way in the wake of Windows 8, there's no denying that the company accomplished some amazing things under his stead. | ||
| + | Like what, you ask? Here are Ballmer's accomplishments in Ballmer's own words, via . | ||
| + | I am proud of what we have achieved. We have grown from $7.5 million to nearly $78 billion since I joined Microsoft, and we have grown from employing just over 30 people to almost 100,000. I feel good about playing a role in that success and having committed 100 percent emotionally all the way. We have more than 1 billion users and earn a great profit for our shareholders. We have delivered more profit and cash return to shareholders than virtually any other company in history. | ||
| + | And he's continued that trend of profitability even with his retirement notice. Microsoft's stock is up more than 7 percent on news of his leaving. | ||
| + | Thanks for the memories, Steve—and for Windows XP, Windows 7, the continued awesomeness that is Office, the Xbox, and heck, even the Ribbon interface. (I love it!) I'll give Ballmer the last word, via his goodbye note. | ||
| + | This is an emotional and difficult thing for me to do. I take this step in the best interests of the company I love; it is the thing outside of my family and closest friends that matters to me most. | ||

| + | == Review- Tweeki 2 brings the best of Twitter to Pokki 0 == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html>I'm always on the hunt for truly great Twitter clients for the PC desktop, and one of my finds from last year was . Despite some drawbacks, I was impressed with Tweeki's mobile-like interface, and deemed it an excellent client for anyone with one Twitter user. Shortly after, Tweeki, which ran on the , shut down due to Twitter API changes, and has re-emerged as Tweeki 2, a whole new iteration of the Pokki Twitter app. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Tweeki shows one column at a time on a simple mobile-like interface. | ||
| + | The change becomes apparent before you even log in. Tweeki 2 is based on a new partnership with Intel, which means you must create an Intel Services Identity before you can start using Tweeki. Once you do, you can use this single log in to bring up all your Twitter users on any PC, including unread counts for timeline, mentions, and DMs. This feature works surprisingly well, but it's important to note than when logged in on two PCs at once, actions you perform on one PC, such as switching between users, will also affect Tweeki on the other PC. | ||
| + | Once logged in, you'll become acquainted with the new Tweeki interface. In a strictly sized window (you cannot change the size), you'll find six different columns: timeline, mentions, DMs, lists, profile, and search. In addition, a compose button opens up a compose bar which you can hide when not using it, and another button on the left opens up the users and settings menu. For here you can add users, switch between users, sign out of the current user,[http://bbs.skygy.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=8365867 China's trial is just beginning], and access the notification settings. | ||
| + | Just like the old version of Tweeki, here too you can choose between badge and banner notifications, but Tweeki 2 makes them available for lists as well. Speaking of notifications, these will only pop up or show for the user you're currently on, which makes it much easier to manage multiple accounts than the older version. General unread counts for all your accounts are available on the profile menu as well.<br><br> | ||
| + | |||
| + | View images and watch videos inside Tweeki while reading your feed. | ||
| + | Things have changed in the reading front too. Whereas before your own tweets and mentions were marked in green and orange on your timeline, these are now highlighted by a color bar to the left of the tweet, and while they're somewhat less obvious, they're definitely colorblind friendly.? Your own username, when mentioned, appears in a different color too. Images and videos are now available to view inline, providing a self contained and enjoyable reading environment. | ||
| + | The new compose window is much less obtrusive, and includes a spell checker to avoid those embarrassing typos. The first iteration of Tweeki had some problems with link shortening, and I'm sad to say that the situation is now worse. There is no built-in way to shorten links in Tweeki, and any links used stay in their long form, using up most of your character allowance. If you have an easily available way to shorten links this won't be a problem,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657 Nike NFL New York Giants Wholesale On NFL Jerseys Store], but if you don't, this could turn the Tweeki experience into a pretty uncomfortable one. | ||
| + | Tweeki 2 can perform almost any Twitter action you can think of. This includes browsing profiles, following and unfollowing, creating, editing and deleting lists, and performing various searches. The Live Stream search option lets you view search results as they're published without lifting a finger. It's easy to save searches to reuse later, as well as to browse some world trends. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Profile view is a great addition, and the only place where links get (unnecessarily) shortened. | ||
| + | The old Tweeki had some connection problemsas many Twitter clients doand this one suffers the same problems. From time to time I had to sit and stare at revolving circles while my tweets were trying to load,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/ New 2013 NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Offer Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys], but most of the time things worked beautifully. All in all, Tweeki 2 is a great addition to the Pokki family, a platform which many use as a Start-menu replacement for Windows 8, and will appeal to anyone on the hunt for a simple, beautiful and free Twitter client.</html> | ||

| + | == US consumer spending up weak 0.1 percent in July == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html>WASHINGTON (AP) U.S. consumers barely increased their spending in July as their income grew more slowly, held back in part by steep government spending cuts that reduced federal workers salaries. The tepid gains suggest economic growth is off to a weak start in the July-September quarter. | ||
| + | |||
| + | The Commerce Department said Friday that consumer spending rose just 0.1 percent in July from the previous month. That s slower than June s 0.6 percent increase. Consumers cut their spending on long-lasting manufactured goods, such as cars and appliances. Spending on services was unchanged. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Income rose 0.1 percent in July following a 0.3 percent June gain. Overall wages and salaries tumbled $21.8 billion from June a third of the decline came from forced furloughs of federal workers. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Consumers spending drives roughly 70 percent of economic activity. The weak spending report led some economists to sound a more pessimistic note about economic growth in the current July-September quarter. It follows July data showing steep drops in orders for long-lasting manufactured goods and new-home sales. | ||
| + | |||
| + | This is a disappointing report on a number of levels, said James Marple,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-c-598 Official Nike NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Wholesale NFL Jerseys At Cheap Price], senior economist at TD Economics. Prospects for a pickup in economic growth in the third quarter hinge on a broad-based acceleration in spending by households and business to offset the ongoing drag from government. The data for the first month of the quarter are not following this script. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Several analysts said that economic growth is unlikely to match the 2.5 percent annual rate reported Thursday for the April-June quarter. That was more than twice the growth rate in the first quarter and far above an initial estimate of a 1.7 percent rate for April through June. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Marple predicts third-quarter growth will fall around 2 percent, perhaps even lower. | ||
| + | |||
| + | The Federal Reserve will consider the consumer spending and income data at its September meeting, when it decides whether to begin slowing its $85 billion a month in bond purchases. The bond purchases have helped keep long-term borrowing rates low. | ||
| + | |||
| + | But the most critical factor that the Fed will weigh is the August employment report, which will be released next Friday. It s the final jobs report before the Fed meets. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Another concern is that rising interest rates could dampen consumer spending, particularly on homes and cars. Mortgage rates have already risen more than a full percentage point since May. | ||
| + | |||
| + | In July,[http://prosilentpc.com/wiki/index.php?title=Usuario:Lscqrynenik#Gay_marriage_to_be_treated_equally_by_IRS Gay marriage to be treated equally by IRS],[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657 Nike NFL New York Giants Wholesale On NFL Jerseys Store], the savings rate was unchanged at 4.4 percent of after-tax income. That was the smallest since the rate had been 4.3 percent in March. | ||
| + | |||
| + | The small rise in spending was driven by a 0.8 percent gain in purchases of nondurable goods, such as clothing. Purchases of durable goods such as autos fell 0.2 percent and purchases of services such as utilities and doctor s visits were unchanged in July. | ||
| + | |||
| + | A price gauge tied to consumer spending was up a small 0.1 percent in July compared to June. Prices excluding volatile food and energy are up just 1.4 percent compared to a year ago, significantly below the Federal Reserve s 2 percent target for inflation. | ||

| + | == Cardiac arrest does not have to lead to death 0 == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html>It is not uncommon nowadays to hear of people who suddenly dropped dead and were said to have suffered cardiac arrest. | ||
| + | |||
| + | All over the world, incidences of cardiac arrests are becoming more popular, with it accounting for 40 per cent of all deaths in Europe. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Cardiac arrest, also known as cardiopulmonary arrest or circulatory arrest, is the abrupt cessation of normal circulation of the blood due to failure of the heart to contract effectively during systole. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Speaking with Saturday Tribune, Dr Mudasiru Salami, a Consultant Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon in the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, said “Cardiac arrest is when the sensation of activities of the heart completely stops. | ||
| + | |||
| + | “Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that, in certain groups of patients, is potentially reversible if treated early enough. | ||
| + | |||
| + | When unexpected cardiac arrest leads to death, it is called sudden cardiac death (SCD).” | ||
| + | |||
| + | In the same vein, Dr Patience Sotunbi, Consultant Anaesthetist, College Of Medicine, University of Ibadan, UCH and president,? Life Resuscitation Society of Nigeria (LIRESON), said cardiac arrest is different from (but may be caused by) a heart attack (myocardial infarction), where blood flow to the still-beating heart is interrupted (cardiogenic shock). | ||
| + | |||
| + | “We often hear in news reports that some well-known person has died of a “heart attack” or a “cardiac arrest.” Or worse, after the sudden death of a loved one, a doctor might use one of these two terms to describe the cause of death. Unfortunately, these terms often seem to be used almost interchangeably by news reporters (and even, disturbingly, by some doctors). They are two different things. | ||
| + | |||
| + | ?“Heart attack or myocardial infarction occurs when a coronary artery (one of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle) becomes suddenly blocked. The sudden blockage robs a portion of the heart muscle of its vital blood supply and the muscle dies. So, a heart attack is the death of a part of the heart muscle. | ||
| + | |||
| + | “Cardiac arrest, in contrast, is caused by a sudden heart arrhythmia called ventricular fibrillation. In ventricular fibrillation, the electrical signals within the heart suddenly become completely chaotic. Because these electrical signals control the timing and the organisation of the heartbeat, when those signals degenerate to total chaos, the heart suddenly stops beating. That is, it goes into | ||
| + | |||
| + | “cardiac arrest.” The most common outcome of a cardiac arrest is sudden death,” she said. | ||
| + | |||
| + | She further explained that “Arrested blood circulation prevents delivery of oxygen to ‘’all’’ parts of the body. Cerebral hypoxia, or lack of oxygen supply to the brain, causes victims to lose consciousness and to stop normal breathing, although agonal breathing may still occur. Brain injury is likely if cardiac arrest is untreated for more than five minutes, although new treatments such as induced hypothermia have begun to extend this time. To improve survival and neurological recovery, immediate response is paramount.” | ||
| + | |||
| + | ?“The treatment for a cardiac arrest is to begin immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to support the victim’s circulation, and,[http://blueeye99.com/wiki/index.php/%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EC%9E%90:Lkxvrrviife#Aregbesola_lists_reasons_for_seeking_re Aregbesola lists reasons for seeking re], as soon as possible, to deliver a large electrical shock to the heart with a device called a “defibrillator.” The large shock allows the heart’s electrical signal to reorganise itself, and the heart starts beating again. | ||
| + | |||
| + | ?“Unfortunately, because death occurs within a few minutes of cardiac arrest unless expert help is available, the large majority of individuals who suffer cardiac arrest are not successfully resuscitated,” she adds. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Cardiac arrest tends to be much more common in people who have various types of underlying heart disease — most commonly, a prior heart attack or any condition that produces heart failure. Indeed, many patients who have had either a heart attack or heart failure ought to be considered for insertion of an implantable cardiac defibrillator, a device that automatically resuscitates people who suffer cardiac arrests. Other causes of cardiac arrest include certain inherited heart abnormalities that tend to increase the risk of ventricular fibrillation (the most common of these being hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and the use of various illicit drugs (especially cocaine). | ||
| + | |||
| + | ?“If a close relative has died in a sudden manner, it is important to try to learn the precise cause of death. Your risk of heart attack, and of some types of cardiac arrest, may be higher if a close relative has experienced these events. Make sure you get as much information as you can. Ask the doctor to speak precisely to you about what actually happened,” she said | ||
| + | |||
| + | She further explains that, if possible, recognition of illness before the patient develops a cardiac arrest will allow the rescuer to prevent its occurrence. Early recognition that a cardiac arrest has occurred is key to survival - for every minute a patient is in cardiac arrest, their chances of survival drop by roughly 10 per cent: these areas often have first responder schemes, whereby members of the community receive training in resuscitation and are given a defibrillator, and called by the emergency medical services in the case of a collapse in their local area. | ||
| + | |||
| + | The period (either before or after) surrounding a cardiac arrest is known as the peri-arrest period. During this period, the patient is in a highly unstable condition and must be constantly monitored in order to halt the progression or repeat of a full cardiac arrest. The preventative treatment used during the peri-arrest period depends on the causes of the impending arrest and the likelihood such an event occurring. | ||
| + | |||
| + | In many cases lack of carotid pulse is the gold standard for diagnosing cardiac arrest, but lack of a pulse (particularly in the peripheral pulses) may be a result of other conditions (e.g. shock), or simply an error on the part of the rescuer. Studies have shown that rescuers often make a mistake when checking the carotid pulse in an emergency, whether they are healthcare professionals or lay persons. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Owing to the inaccuracy in this method of diagnosis, it has been suggested that the technique should be used only by healthcare professionals with specific training and expertise; and even then, that it should be viewed in conjunction with other indicators such as agonal respiration. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including adjunctive measures such as defibrillation, intubation and drug administration,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657 Nike NFL New York Giants Wholesale On NFL Jerseys Store], is the standard of care for initial treatment of cardiac arrest. However, most cardiac arrests occur for a reason, and unless that reason can be found and overcome, CPR is often ineffective; or if it does result in a return of spontaneous Circulatory system/circulation,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-c-598 Official Nike NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Wholesale NFL Jerseys At Cheap Price], this is short lived.<br><br></html> | ||

| + | == PUBLIC ATTITUDE TO PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE, Articles 0 == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html><br> | ||
| + | When in May this year, my supervising officer and spokesman of the FRSC, Mr. Jonas Agwu extensively wrote in one of his weekly columns on the on-going drive by the Corps, the Federal Ministry of Works and the World Bank to construct pedestrian bridges at strategic locations in the FCT under the title Naked Roads , I guess it provided some form of increased advocacy for a replication of same strategy in other parts of the country. | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | To refresh our memories, Mr. Agwu pointed out that pedestrians bridges in the FCT were not mere architectural efforts but to complement safer road use and further fulfillment of the second pillar of the UN Decade of Action which spells out the need to improve the safety of road networks for the benefit of all road users, especially the most vulnerable: pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. Despite the current efforts by the Federal government which has spread to states such as Lagos, Rivers, Ondo and others, it is most disturbing to notice the apathy and non-compliance among pedestrians across the country on the use of these bridges. Strictly speaking, how many of us (pedestrians) truly comply with the use of pedestrian bridges which to a large extent, would have reduced the spate of avoidable hit-and-run cases if properly adhered to? As a christian, the Bible says that he that is faithful in little will be faithful in much. What moral justification do we have to complain about inadequate road furniture when we rarely utilize the available ones? | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Speaking at a cycling/walking exercise organized by the FRSC to mark this year s United Nations Global Road Safety Week, the President of the Cyclists Federation of Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Nur Sherif had disclosed that pedestrians account for a quarter of weekly global road crash fatalities of 5,000 deaths. | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Imagine these scenarios: Aba road(Port Harcourt) - Douglas Adeyemi was driving home from work on a wet Tuesday night in July this year when he witnessed the crushing of a young man by a lorry after he attempted to cross the expressway,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-c-598 Official Nike NFL Jerseys Supply Shop Wholesale NFL Jerseys At Cheap Price], shunning one of the pedestrian bridges within the metropolis.. | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Giving the gory details of the accident, Adeyemi, who works with an eatery said the unpleasant experience shattered his night as the shocking incident haunted him in his sleep. He said death like this was avoidable if the need for pedestrian bridges on the expressway was appreciated. | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Ministers Hill (FCT): A reporter from one of the national newspapers also witnessed a gory accident at the Minster s Hill junction where a young man was knocked down by a fast moving car. The unfortunate victim,[http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657 Nike NFL New York Giants Wholesale On NFL Jerseys Store], who was later identified as a job seeker planning to keep up with a job interview somewhere in Maitama District, died before he could be rushed to the hospital. Such avoidable death is a daily occurrence on Kubwa Expressway, Lugbe road along the airport and other major roads in the FC T. One surviving victim of the risky dash across the expressway incidents, a plantain chips seller, was hit by a taxi driver at the Wuse market axis. Ibrahim had one of his legs severed after the bitter experience and now lives on crutches. There are numerous recorded and unrecorded incidents of similar nature. | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | Ikorodu road (Lagos) : Bosede Oladimeji was compelled to pull over like other motorists along Ikorodu road in Lagos under the scorching sun due to the imposing presence of the life-less body of a lady with unknown identity. Eyewitness account had it that she was run over by a speeding Toyota Corolla as she attempted to dash across the road. The driver just sped off without blinking an eye while other vehicles took turns to further crush the corpse. | ||
| + | |||
| + | <br> | ||
| + | A pedestrian, Segun Olabode, whose view was sought on this unpleasant trend, said: Climbing the bridge was time-consuming . He ignorantly added: I have a shop at the Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos and every morning, I travel from Sango to Lagos. Once I get down at the foot of the Ikeja overhead bridge, I quickly cross over to the other side of the road. I don t see reasons why I should spend valuable minutes climbing the bridge. It is a waste of time. Here in Lagos, time waits for no one. Crossing the main road is much faster if I can avoid the vehicles. It s a matter of choice if I am certain that I will not be knocked down by a vehicle,[http://www.saic-stdf.com/Review.asp?NewsID=386 Plaza Midwood- Cyclists take to the streets each Tuesday night], said Olabode.<br></html> | ||

| + | == I Didn’t Change My Name After Marriage, and Neither Should == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html>When I got married in 2007, there was no discussion between my fiancé and me over whether I’d change my last name to match his. Not because we’d made an unspoken agreement to unite behind his slightly clunky, three-syllable surname; on the contrary, I made the choice years before that I would never, ever change my name to match my husband’s. And unlike some decisions I made as a strident, self-righteous teenager, the decision to keep my name is one I’ve never regretted. (Especially considering that we got divorced four years later―changing my name back was one less thing to worry about amid the crazy stress of separating.) | ||
| + | |||
| + | But not everyone feels the same way: In a of 1,000 people conducted by YouGov, 61 percent of those surveyed stated that they think a women should take her husband’s after marriage. (Yikes.) And the number of women who actually keep their maiden names after marriage is shrinking: Various have that anywhere from 8 to 18 percent of women don’t change their names,[http://sp1wiki.space-pioneers.eu/index.php?title=Benutzer:Ltbsrubhsmi#Costco.27s_Second_0 Costco's Second 0], down from about 23 percent in the ’90s. | ||
| + | |||
| + | I thought of all this while reading Pamela Paul’s recent essay in the New York Times, about her struggle with the whole name-change issue. “Like others wanting it both ways,” she writes, “I held on to my professional name while also taking on my husband’s.” Paul―who wrote The Starter Marriage, so she’s something of an expert on the subject―describes the challenges inherent to having it both ways, both legally (on things like tax returns and passports), and within her own family. “My young children are all in a permanent state of confusion about the bylines they see under one name and the family name we use at home,” she explains. “Isn’t our shared name part of what unites us as a family? Why would I want to set myself apart?” | ||
| + | |||
| + | Now more than ever, there’s an opportunity to redefine what the “family name” means. It doesn’t have to be just about a woman changing her identity; it can be about whatever the couple wants. | ||
| + | My ex and I never had kids, so I never had to answer that question. And I don’t begrudge Paul her choice; it’s her life, and not my place to judge, even if I wouldn’t make the same decision. What does bother me is the fact that it’s 2013, and for all the strides that women have made―socially, culturally, politically, everywhere―we’re still expected to change such a fundamental part of ourselves, simply because we got married. | ||
| + | |||
| + | There are a few reasons why buying into this retrograde notion doesn’t make much sense anymore. For one thing, more women than ever are marrying later, when they’re already established in a career under a maiden name. My personal politics aside, I’ve built up a career and a reputation as a Plitt, and I didn’t want to lose that identity―it’d just be confusing. Furthermore, as gay marriage becomes more and more widespread―hooray!―the conventions of hetereosexual marriage, such as wives taking husband’s names, don’t have to be the norm. It’s silly at best, and exclusionary at worst. | ||
| + | |||
| + | And let’s face it, men never get this kind of pressure. About a year after I married, I got into an argument with a (male) coworker who called me selfish for keeping my own name. As far as I know,[Nike http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657], my ex-husband never once got the same reaction―that would have been totally unthinkable. Historically, the reasons for and consequences of name-changing were pretty vile; a noted that “the laws of various states have deprived women of rights, such as retaining their driver’s license and voter registration, if they did not assume the surname of their husband.” That’s changed, thankfully, but it illustrates my biggest problem: the whole convention is rooted in sexism, and the idea that a woman is little more than an extension of her husband. There isn’t really any good reason why a dude can’t take his future wife’s last name, other than the fact that society might disapprove. | ||
| + | |||
| + | And then there’s the issue of the “family name.” After marriage and having kids, couples―like Paul and her husband―may want to be united under a common moniker. And that’s totally fine! But now more than ever, there’s an opportunity to redefine what the “family name” means. It doesn’t have to be just about a woman changing her identity; it can be about whatever the couple wants. Hyphenating? Making a portmanteau out of your last names? Choosing a brand-new surname altogether? Sure, why not? But let’s stop having an outdated,[Official http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-c-598], sexist custom drive the decision-making. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Look at probably the most famous and awesome married folks in the world right now: Beyoncé and Jay-Z. As the Cut earlier this year, both members of that power couple legally changed their surnames to Carter-Knowles, creating a family unit that represents them both equally. If Bey and Jay can embrace a more progressive, egalitarian path on the name-changing front, perhaps the rest of us should follow suit. | ||

| + | == Donald Rumsfeld and Errol Morris’ UNKNOWN KNOWN == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html>The controversy over Errol Morris’ UNKNOWN KNOWN,[http://wiki.vagasestacio.com.br/index.php?title=Usu%C3%A1rio%3ALbzfvllzefu#Northern_Illinois_vs._Iowa_2013-_Game_Preview Northern Illinois vs. Iowa 2013- Game Preview], which debuted the other night at the Venice Film Festival — and will no doubt be coming to a theater near you — will turn on the issue of whether Morris let Rumsfeld get away with too much, that he didn’t press him hard enough. | ||
| + | |||
| + | To an extent, this is true.? Morris doesn’t confront him with things he says that are clearly untrue, with instances in which he insists he never said things that he most certainly did, and with the policies, that he championed, that led to disaster.? The one glaring omission, a surprising one, is that he doesn’t talk about Rumsfeld’s theory of warfare, his insistence on a small invading force, which was fine for overthrowing the government but insufficient for maintaining (or enforcing) peace in Iraq. | ||
| + | |||
| + | However, this is a movie quite different from THE FOG OF WAR,[New http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/], Morris’s film length study of another defense secretary, Robert McNamara.? That film was specifically about the issue and facts of the Vietnam war, as illuminated by MacNamara’s perspective,[Nike http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657], and it’s pretty safe to say that Morris was more or less in MacNamara’s corner on that one, that he (more or less) believed him and shared his point of view. | ||
| + | |||
| + | UNKNOWN KNOWN is not about the facts so much as it’s a study of one particular personality — one of the personalities behind a foreign policy calamity.? Instead of agreeing or sympathizing with Rumsfeld, Morris’s challenge is to cover over his own disapproval, enough to create an environment in which Rumsfeld can feel safe enough to reveal himself.? He gets Rumsfeld to perform.? Apparently, Rumsfeld wrote 20,000 memos while serving as Secretary of Defense between 2001 and 2006, and Morris persuades him (you get the feeling it didn’t take much persuasion) to read many of them out loud.? Rumsfeld’s voice is all over the soundtrack. | ||
| + | |||
| + | I’ll say more in the review, but one of the interesting things about the movie is that Rumsfeld is an engaging, witty personality.? This is inescapable.? And yet after a while the personality reveals deeper layers.? So does the mind.? He goes from being a likable, thinking person to seeming like a colossal narcissist, one who thinks and analyzes and questions, but in circles, and to no avail. | ||
| + | |||
| + | People walk out of the movie thinking, “Oh, that man is awful — but I’m sure everybody else will love him.”? That in a way is Morris’s sneaky achievement.? I doubt anyone will come away loving Rumsfeld, at least no one who watches more than a half hour of the movie.</html> | ||

| + | The elevation of the NFC West to the top of the NFL food chain has been years in the making. Led by media-darlings and ,[http://www.nikenfljerseys.org/ nike nfl wholesale jerseys], the two other teams in the division just aren't getting the love. How quickly the NFL world forgets the four game win-streak Arizona had to start the 2012 season. Marked as an aberration, most point at the litany of quarterback woes when they recall last season. Funny,[http://www.soeren-kaiser.de/mediawiki-1.19.0/index.php?title=Benutzer:Lyxfngkkwju#Business_etiquette_every_entrepreneur_should_know_0 Business etiquette every entrepreneur should know 0], but I seem to remember a top notch defense more than & Co., but maybe I'm different? | ||

I'm an editor and writer for Turf Show Times,[http://www.nikenfljerseys.org/washington-redskins-c-5 redskins jersey], the SBNation home for all things . I'm a fan of Jess Root and ROTB, dropping in a few times a week to see what's new with the Cardinals. I write mostly features for TST, . | ||
| + | |||
| + | This year, the Rams and Cardinals face off early on the 2013 schedule. Personally, I'd have been happier if this contest happened later in the season. Both teams are in transformation stages, with veteran/second year head coach Jeff Fisher for the Rams, and rookie Bruce Arians taking the helm in Arizona. These two coaches have loads in common if you think about it. What I like most though, is their ability to gather experienced coaching staffs. When Jonathan Cooper went down to injury, I knew Arians would barely blink an eye. His campaign as interim head coach in Indianapolis for Chuck Pagano, featured the Arians led attacking the waiver wire more than any other team in the NFL in 2012. The man knows talent, and showed he's willing to keep looking until he finds the right pieces. | ||
| + | |||
| + | Some questions come to mind about the 2013 Cardinals, the first of which is how can their defense make up for the loss of Daryl Washington. One of my favorite NFL players, I consider him in the top two or three at his position in the NFL. You have a new defensive coordinator? How does his defense look when compared to the Ray Horton version in 2012? | ||
| + | |||
| + | Arizona has one of the best wide receiver corps in the NFL. The possible addition of to offensive schemes is going to eat into possible opportunities for Fitz and Co. I'm not sure if this is a good, or bad thing? Thoughts? | ||

| + | Do you have any questions about the 2013 St. Louis Rams? Ask away in the comments, and I'll do my best to answer you. | ||
