It’s going to be quite the scene when Peyton Manning returns to Indianapolis Sunday night for his first game at Lucas Oil Stadium since 2010. Manning, who sat out the entire 2011 season due to an injury, has been stellar since joining the Broncos last season and will face his former teammates in what could end up being a preview of this season’s AFC title game.
 +
 +
Manning isn’t the first legendary player to return to the scene of his greatest early-career triumphs. Here’s how some other Hall of Famers (or soon to be ones) fared in their first appearances in front of their former fans.

After 16 seasons with the Packers (and one with the New York Jets), Brett Favre led the 6-1 Minnesota Vikings into Lambeau Field. At 40, he still looked like a Super Bowl winning quarterback, throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns to lead Minnesota to a 38-26 win in front of a sold-out crowd of cheeseheads.

Favre s trip to Lambeau didn t go as well the following year, as he threw three interceptions in the Vikings 28-24 loss, his last appearance at the legendary stadium.

Nearly five months after The Decision,[http://verkko-opisto.pkky.fi/wiki/index.php/K%C3%A4ytt%C3%A4j%C3%A4:Qjloyiac6#Torii_Hunter_on_celebrating_cop-_.E2.80.98Help_me.2C_then_cheer.2C Torii Hunter on celebrating cop- ‘Help me, then cheer,</ a>, James returned to Quicken Loans Arena for the first time as a member of the Miami Heat. He didn t let the boos and hostile signs from the sold-out crowd get to him, as he scored 38 points (including 24 in the third quarter) in the Heat s 118-90 win over the Cavaliers.

So many things went through my mind,<a href="http://intranet.fundacite-merida.gob.ve/iv_encuentro_asl/index.php/Usuario:Xknuqcua1#David_Ortiz_comes_through_in_the_clutch_again_as_Red_Sox_top" rel="bookmark">David Ortiz comes through in the clutch again as Red Sox top</ a>, James said after the game. I have nothing bad to say about these fans at all. We grew from the year before I got here, a 17-win season to the last two years I was here, we had the best team in the league in the regular season. I understand their frustration. I was frustrated also because we didn t accomplish what we wanted to. I wish this organization and these fans, who are great, the best.

Back in the NBA after a three-year second retirement, a 38-year-old Jordan played his first game in the United Center where he wasn t wearing a Bulls uniform. Fans showed the six-time NBA champion the respect befitting a man with his own statue out front and while Jordan wasn t the same player who won five MVPs and ten scoring titles in Chicago, he did show flashes of his former self. Jordan played 41 minutes, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as the Wizards beat the Bulls 77-69.

Clemens didn t miss a beat in his return performance, giving up one run and four hits in eight innings with 16 strikeouts. The Blue Jays 3-1 victory improved Clemens record to 14-3. He d finish the season 21-7 with an MLB leading 2.05 ERA and 292 strikeouts,[http://softvent.net/restaurant.html <strong>Authentic New York Jets Jerseys Sale</strong>], all good enough to earn him his fourth career Cy Young award.

Wayne Gretzky s homecoming in Edmonton<br>

A shocking offseason trade (video above) sent The Great One from Edmonton to Los Angeles after nine NHL seasons,[http://kpgroups.in/banana/Custom-Ravens-Jerseys.html <strong>Custom Ravens NFL Jerseys</strong>], eight scoring titles and four Stanley Cup wins. Gretzky had only played six games with his new team before he returned to the home arena of his previous one. He registered two assists but left Edmonton without a win as Mark Messier s two goals powered the Oilers past the Kings 8-6.</html>

== Yoon to try out for MLB teams ==

<html>Korean star pitcher Suk-Min Yoon has let teams know that he will soon travel to Los Angeles to tryout for MLB clubs,[http://softvent.net/restaurant.html <strong>Authentic New York Jets Jerseys On Sale</strong>], writes the Korean newspaper . A client of Scott Boras, the 27 year old right-hander would not require a posting fee as he is technically a free agent.

Yoon currently pitches for the Kia Tigers and has been with the organization for roughly 8 years with the club selecting him in the 2nd round of the 2005 KBO draft. A reliever for his first two seasons,[http://www.zyxww.net/plus/view.php?aid=606683 Keep These 5 Things In Mind When Making A Work Mis</ a>, Yoon transferred to the rotation in 2007 where he emerged as one of the best pitchers in the Korean Baseball Organization. == ALCS- Lackey, Red Sox shut down Tigers in Game 3 ==
 +
 +
<html>John Lackey edged Justin Verlander in the latest duel of these pitching-rich playoffs, and Boston s bullpen shut down Detroit s big boppers with the game on the line to lift the Red Sox over the Tigers 1-0 Tuesday for a 2-1 lead in the AL championship series.
 +
Mike Napoli homered off Verlander in the seventh inning, and Detroit s best chance to rally fell short in the eighth when Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder struck out with runners at the corners.
 +
The runs are pretty stingy,[http://www.lygxinba.gov.cn/Review.asp?NewsID=530 Lindsay Lohan addicted to younger men-</ a>, Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. This is what it s about in postseason, is good pitching.
 +
Despite three straight gems by their starters, the Tigers suddenly trail in a best-of-seven series they seemed to control just two days ago. Game 4 is Wednesday night at Comerica Park, with Jake Peavy scheduled to start for the Red Sox against Doug Fister.
 +
Lackey allowed four hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out eight without a walk in a game that was delayed 17 minutes in the second inning because lights on the stadium towers went out.
 +
  I think that little time off gave him a chance to slow down a little bit. He was excited and pumped that first inning, Boston catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia said. Kind of getting excited with his slider, throwing a little too hard and leaving it over the middle, but he was still pretty effective. &nbsp;
 +
It was the second 1-0 game in this matchup between the highest-scoring teams in the majors. That s been the theme throughout these playoffs, which have included four 1-0 scores and seven shutouts in the first 26 games.
 +
After rallying from a five-run deficit to even the series in Game 2, Boston came away with a win in Detroit against one of the game s best pitchers. The Tigers had a chance for their own comeback in the eighth when Austin Jackson drew a one-out walk and Torii Hunter followed with a single.
 +
But Cabrera, who failed to reach base for the first time in 32 postseason games for the Tigers, never looked comfortable against Junichi Tazawa, swinging and missing at the first two offerings and eventually chasing an outside pitch for strike three.
 +
He just did a great job pumping the fastballs away, Saltalamacchia said. He s so sneaky with that 94-95 (mph),<a href="http://www.sternbauer.org/webkommunikation/index.php?title=Benutzer:Mmolhphx9#Report-_NFL_Considering_Additional_Primetime_Games_Available" rel="bookmark">Report- NFL Considering Additional Primetime Games Available</ a>,<a href="http://kpgroups.in/banana/Custom-Ravens-Jerseys.html" title="Custom Ravens NFL Jerseys"><strong>Custom Ravens NFL Jerseys</strong>], it s tough to hit.
 +
Fielder was even more overmatched against Koji Uehara, striking out on three pitches.
 +
Uehara also pitched the ninth for a save, ensuring that Lackey s fine performance wouldn t go to waste.
 +
Lackey pitched poorly his first two seasons in Boston after signing an $82.5 million, five-year contract in December 2009. Then he missed all of 2012 following elbow ligament-replacement surgery.
 +
He s been better this season, and he kept the Tigers off balance Tuesday by effectively changing speeds.
 +
He just never gave in, Saltalamacchia said.
 +
Napoli s first at-bat in the majors was against Verlander on May 4,[http://softvent.net/restaurant.html <strong>Authentic New York Jets Jerseys On Sale</strong>], 2006,[http://kpgroups.in/banana/Custom-Ravens-Jerseys.html <strong>Cheap Custom Ravens Jerseys</strong>], at Comerica Park. He homered then, too.
 +
He s tough. He was on his game tonight. He was keeping all of us off balance, said Napoli, who rubbed his bat on teammate Jonny Gomes beard before going up to the plate. I got to a 3-2 count and put a good swing on a pitch, was able to drive it.
 +
In the last two games, the Tigers have started Verlander and 21-game winner Max Scherzer and the Red Sox won both.
 +
Throw in Anibal Sanchez s outstanding effort in the opener, when the Red Sox managed only a ninth-inning single in a 1-0 loss, and Detroit s three starters in the ALCS have combined to allow two runs and six hits with 35 strikeouts in 21 innings.

== House Republicans Show Themselves To Be Dangerously Incompet ==

<html>House Republican leaders  to call a vote Tuesday evening on a Republican plan to raise the debt limit and reopen the government. They couldn't round up enough Republican votes to pass it.
 +

The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza is stunned,[http://mctw54.org/Review.asp?NewsID=189 Former Georgetown star Victor Page sentenced to 10 years in prison</ a>, for some reason.
 +
 +
Absolutely stunning. RT : Confirmed: tonight's vote is dead
 +
 +
The Fix (@TheFix)
 +
In fact, this is the least stunning event ever. The bill would have raised the debt ceiling. It would have changed Obamacare, Republicans' white whale, in only the most trivial ways. The powerful conservative pressure group Heritage Action opposed it. Of course Speaker John Boehner couldn't get the votes.
 +
 +
The only stunning thing is that anyone still looks at House Republicans and says: "You know what would be great? Giving these people more power over public policy."
 +
 +
Roughly one-third of this caucus thinks hitting the debt ceiling and shutting down the government are great strategies to try to stop Obamacare. The other two-thirds of the party has realized all along that this strategy sucks, but they could not find any way to stop their party from implementing it&nbsp; even though these "reasonable" Republicans outnumber the crazies.
 +
 +
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) was on CNN today saying that his party's strategy for the last month has been lunacy. Well why the hell didn't he do anything to stop it? Why didn't he join with Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) and  on Sept. 30? Where is his sense of responsibility?
 +
 +
Can you imagine the situation this country would be in if Republicans controlled both houses of Congress right now? Or if we had a President whose administration gets jerked around by Heritage Action in the same way that House Republicans do? It would be a trainwreck,<a href="http://www.ouijapedia.com/index.php/Usuario:Ycuzrnfy1#New_inspection_plans_could_factor_in_Watab_zebra_mussels" rel="bookmark">New inspection plans could factor in Watab zebra mussels</ a>, and "reasonable" Republicans like Nunes would still be on television saying they understand it's a trainwreck, but by golly,<a href="http://kpgroups.in/banana/Custom-Ravens-Jerseys.html" title="Custom Ravens NFL Jerseys"><strong>Custom Ravens NFL Jerseys</strong>], operationally, they had no way to stop it.
 +
 +
There is no serious argument for Republican governance right now, even if you prefer conservative policies over liberal ones. These people are just too dangerously incompetent to be trusted with power.
 +
 +
A party that is this bad at tactics can't be expected to be any good at policy-making.
 +
 +
There are a lot of state and local Republican officials I admire,[http://kpgroups.in/banana/Custom-Ravens-Jerseys.html <strong>Cheap Custom Ravens Jerseys</strong>], with Gov. Chris Christie (N.J.) at the . Govs. Brian Sandoval (Nev.) and Susana Martinez (N.M.) are pretty good, too. I even think Gov. Jan Brewer (Ariz.) , her opportunistic fights against immigrants notwithstanding.
 +
 +
What successful Republican governors like Christie have in common is that they have been able to resist their party's base when it demands they do massively unpopular things. Republican members of Congress have no such ability. And for that reason,[http://softvent.net/restaurant.html <strong>Authentic New York Jets Jerseys Sale</strong>], they cannot be trusted with power.</html>
