== Inside Doop- Draw impeding Union playoff hopes ==
 +

<html>CHESTER, Pa. -- Two weeks ago, the Philadelphia Union battled the host New York Red Bulls to a scoreless draw and it was considered a positive result.<br><br>On Saturday, with the first-place Montreal Impact in town,[http://140.114.113.168/wiki/index.php/%E4%BD%BF%E7%94%A8%E8%80%85:Lqgxxdzsjgsv#4_Foods_that_Are_Good_Sources_of_Resveratrol 4 Foods that Are Good Sources of Resveratrol], the Union played to another scoreless draw -- but this time it seemed far less positive.<br><br>The main reason for this is simple: MLS teams are expected to win at home. But there’s another gloomier reason: Winless in their last three games, the Union have made their playoff hopes seem a lot less secure now than two weeks ago after escaping Red Bull Arena with a hard-earned point.<br><br>Let’s take a closer look at Saturday’s draw with the Impact, what it means in a very crowded Eastern Conference playoff race and what the team needs to do for their looming West Coast trip.<br><br>Three thoughts from Saturday’s game<br>1. If it wasn’t clear from their style of play,[http://virtualscale-web.net/nimbula/index.php?title=Utilisateur:Lonnowrlaoyq#DEA_Has_Access_to_Billions_of_AT.26T_Phone_Call_Records DEA Has Access to Billions of AT&T Phone Call Records], it became clear from their postgame quotes: The Montreal Impact were more than happy to play for a tie. A Montreal coach practically said as much when he told reporters after the game: “Philadelphia are behind us, we have two games in hand, and we were able to grab that point.” And if you watched the game, you probably noticed that the Impact had only one shot on target, derived most of their offense from counter-attacks and mostly stayed in a defensive shell. Still, the Union were able to break through the Montreal defense and create a few good scoring chances; they just had trouble finishing. Which leads us to our next point …<br><br>2. Union color commentator Alejandro Moreno called it a “sumptuous, delicious,[http://hakopedia.org/wiki/%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E8%80%85:Licwqifrcvrv Wanted man captured at convention center], tasty ball.” Jack McInerney said it’s a ball he scores on “nine times out of 10, with my eyes closed.” And yet, in the 77th minute, McInerney could not head a perfect Fabinho cross into the net to break the scoreless deadlock. The Union’s leading scorer also missed a couple of other chances,[http://dogpedia.com.br/wiki/Usu%C3%A1rio:Lifanormtana#Houck-_All_aboard_for_World.E2.80.99s_Largest_Food_Truck_Rally Houck- All aboard for World’s Largest Food Truck Rally], extending his scoring drought to 10 games. Why is such a talented goal-scorer having so much trouble finding the back of the net over the past three months? McInerney admitted that he’s over-thinking things and has been “kind of in between decisions of what I want to do.” Whatever the reason, if the Union hope to make the playoffs, they’ll need their 21-year-old star to snap out of his slump. And fast.<br><br>3. The missed scoring chances were certainly disappointing for Philly but the Union’s stout defensive performance cannot be overlooked. With Sheanon Williams sliding from right back over to center back and Ray Gaddis returning from injury to take over at right back, Philly’s retooled backline made amends for its dreadful performance in last week’s 5-1 drubbing by the New England Revolution, guiding the Union to their fifth shutout in the last seven games. Fabinho and Gaddis were both dynamic on the wings, and the Parke-Williams center back pairing looked strong, even though the two players have never before paired in that position.<br><br>Three questions for the week ahead<br>1. The Union have some unique challenges ahead of them for their next game. For starters, the team will make its last trip to the West Coast of the season when they take on the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday at 11 p.m. The game will also be on a relatively big stage as it will be ESPN’s featured MLS Game of the Week. How will the Union handle that? Will they try to break out of its scoring funk and play an open game in front of a national TV audience? Or will they employ more of a defensive gameplan playing so far from home?<br><br>2. The Union’s defense will be hampered again with Amobi Okugo serving the second of his two-game suspension. But after preventing MLS Golden Boot leader Marco Di Vaio from scoring Saturday, will Philly’s makeshift backline be able to do the same against 2012 Golden Boot winner Chris Wondolowski? Wondolowski has just eight goals this season but has scored three since the start of August and is still undoubtedly one of the league’s most dangerous players.<br><br>3. It’s time for the weekly Kleberson question. On Saturday,[http://vale.hakopedia.org/wiki/%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E8%80%85:Ljldwhwnhckr#Jayson_Werth_rallies_Washington_Nationals_over_New_York_Mets Jayson Werth rallies Washington Nationals over New York Mets], the former World Cup champion made his first appearance since June 1, coming on for the final 10 minutes and making a little bit of noise with a couple of long-range shots. Does this mean the Brazilian is working his way back into the regular rotation? It’s probably too soon to say until we see if he plays against the Earthquakes. But most Union fans would say he could be an important piece in the team’s playoff push.<br><br>Stat of the week<br>The Philadelphia Union have played in as many scoreless draws since July 20 (three) as they played in all of last season.<br><br>Quote of the week<br>“If there’s something I knew I could change, then I would have done it the first game I didn’t score.” -- Jack McInerney, on trying to break out of his scoring slump<br><br>Player of the week<br>Sheanon Williams showed his versatility by switching to a new position along the backline and completely handcuffing the Montreal attack.</html>

== US swimmer Diana Nyad nearing end of Cuba 0 ==
 +
 +
<html>KEY WEST, Florida &nbsp; With her lips and tongue swollen, U.S. endurance swimmer Diana Nyad edged closer to Florida on Monday in her attempt to become the first person to swim the treacherous waters from Cuba to Key West without a shark cage.
 +
 +
Nyad has made it farther than in any of her previous four tries,[http://jahnel-verlag.de/wikifreising/index.php/Benutzer:Lplzbmhtwkxp#There.E2.80.99s_an_App_for_that-_New_Weight_loss_Research There’s an App for that- New Weight loss Research], and she was about 2 miles from Florida late Monday morning, according to her representatives. She was on course to swim about 110 miles and expected to arrive in Key West on Monday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. EDT.
 +
 +
Doctors who are traveling with a team of Nyad supporters said her swollen lips and tongue were causing her speech to be slurred and they were worried about her breathing, but they have not intervened, according to a post on Nyad's website. Crew spokesman Alex de Cordoba said the swelling is probably from exposure to the elements, including the sun and saltwater.
 +
 +
He said when Nyad reached 2 miles to go, she paused in the water, gathered the 35 members of her crew and thanked them for helping her with her longtime dream.
 +
 +
Nyad's journey began Saturday morning when she jumped from the seawall of the Hemingway Marina into the warm waters off Havana. She has been swimming the Florida Strait ever since, stopping from time to time for nourishment.
 +
 +
She had gotten very cold overnight, her team said, so they decided not to stop her to eat and drink in hopes that swimming would keep her warm.
 +
 +
"I admit there's an ego rush," Nyad said before the swim began. "If I -- three days from now, four days from now -- am still somehow bringing the arms up and I see the shore ... I am going to have a feeling that no one yet on this planet has ever had."
 +
 +
Nyad, who recently turned 64, tried the swim the Strait three times in 2011 and 2012. She had also tried in 1978.
 +
 +
Her last attempt ended amid boat trouble, storms,[http://wiki.my-rpi.de/index.php/Benutzer:Ljvfxcqdpxst#Albare.E2.80.99s_.E2.80.98The_Road_Ahead.E2.80.99_has_hit_the_stre Albare’s ‘The Road Ahead’ has hit the stre], unfavorable currents and jellyfish stings that left her face puffy and swollen.
 +
 +
This time she wore a full bodysuit, gloves, booties and a mask to help protect her from stings. Before the swim she said the suit slowed her down, but she believed it would be effective.
 +
 +
The support team is accompanying her has equipment that generates a faint electrical field around her is designed to keep sharks at bay, and a boat drags a line to help keep her on course.
 +
 +
Australian Susie Maroney successfully swam the Strait in 1997 with a shark cage, which besides protection from the predators, has a drafting effect that pulls a swimmer along.
 +
 +
In 2012, Australian Penny Palfrey swam 79 miles toward Florida without a cage before strong currents forced her to abandon the attempt. This June, her countrywoman Chloe McCardel made it 11 hours and 14 miles before jellyfish stings ended her bid.
 +
 +
In 1978,[http://www.planet-archeage.de/aa-kompendium/index.php?title=Benutzer:Lqbzwvozgurv#An_Inside_Look_at_Umpiring-_Talking_to_Brent_Rice_from_the_W An Inside Look at Umpiring- Talking to Brent Rice from the W], Walter Poenisch,[http://podroz.ru/index.php/U%C5%BCytkownik:Llrgxgomksnt#Clothing_store_to_add_to_expanding_Waterville_businesses Clothing store to add to expanding Waterville businesses], an Ohio baker, claimed to have made the swim using flippers and a snorkel. Critics say there was insufficient independent documentation to verify his claim.
 +
 +
Nyad first came to national attention in 1975 when she swam the 28 miles around the island of Manhattan in just under eight hours. In 1979 she swam the 102 miles from North Bimini, Bahamas,[http://www.leeker.org/home.php?mod=space&uid=210635&do=blog&quickforward=1&id=2497117 Egyptian police raid Al], to Juno Beach, Fla., in 27.5 hours.

Nyad is also an author of three books, a motivational speaker and has been a reporter and commentator for NPR.</html>

== Blair- The good, bad and ugly of the Blue Jays' clash w ==
 +
 +
<html>Winning two of three games from a pair of teams with playoff aspirations, the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals, is almost beside the point. What matters as general manager Alex Anthopoulos contemplates next season is that the team show improvement in specific areas: how it plays the game in the field, and how its starters pitch.
 +
Neither Mark Buehrle or R.A. Dickey can be at the front of the rotation if the Blue Jays want to win next season but from what they’ve shown recently it is now clear that Anthopoulos ought to retain both of them next season, unless one of his peers loses his mind and is willing to trade younger,[http://wiki.kaffeklubben.org/index.php?title=Bruger:Lfngflpcqsqx#Kyle_Busch_wins_at_Atlanta.2C_clinches_Chase_for_the_Sprint_Cu Kyle Busch wins at Atlanta, clinches Chase for the Sprint Cu], more cost-efficient starters to him. If somebody needs to go to make this team better, make it Jose Bautista.
 +
Dickey’s home-field performance has almost caught off to his larger-than-life personae: he gave up two hits and needed just 100 pitches to get through eight innings in Saturday’s 4-2 Blue Jays win,[http://www.dhost.info/mpcichon/index.php/U%C5%BCytkownik:Lzrtnrhdlpsw#Weekly_wrap_.E2.80.93_College_football_postmortems_and_early_picks Weekly wrap – College football postmortems and early picks], striking out six and walking two and has an earned run average of 2.53 in his last three home starts after being beaten up at the Rogers Centre.
 +
It took a while, but Dickey seems to have an understanding of how to use his knuckle-ball in one of the most hitter-friendly parks in the Majors. With a new two-year deal kicking in, this is all very good news.
 +
Buehrle, meanwhile, is starting to profit from better infield defence.
 +
Brett Lawrie, who lit up Twitter on Friday night with a jaw-dropping throw from mid-air after bare-handing a ball – “I just kind of adjusted on the fly,[http://constit.frlii.org/index.php?title=Utilisateur:Lvkrudprtqhm#Weinstein_Co._publicist_not_hurt_in_plane_mishap Weinstein Co. publicist not hurt in plane mishap],” he said - looks like a professional third baseman and is acting like a professional ballplayer. The game has slowed for him.
 +
And what to say about second baseman Ryan Goins, whose club-tying,[http://www.mandrivaclub.nl/wiki/index.php/Gebruiker:Lmumdsxoldtm#Alex_Rodriguez_sits_out_Yankees_2 Alex Rodriguez sits out Yankees 2], eight-game hitting streak at the start of his career ended with Sunday’s 0-for-4? He is the best defensive second baseman the Blue Jays have employed this season and while his calling is most likely going to be as a utility players – well, if he can keep Munenori Kawasaki away from the 25-man roster next season, things will be just splendid. You don’t win the American League East with novelty acts.
 +
Sunday’s loss was representative of the Blue Jays season. Happ can’t miss bats and can’t finish off hitters and needs to find another off-speed pitch before anybody tries to pass him off as an AL East pitcher. He has an almost unmanageably small margin for error and that was brought home again Sunday, when an interference call on Jose Reyes on a run-down and an ill-conceived overthrow of the cut-off man by Rajai Davis set in motion a four-run third inning that carried Shields to victory.
 +
Throwing change-ups to hitters who knew when they were coming, Shields’ approach was simple: I’m better than you, and until you show me you can hit what’s coming, I’m not going to change anything. “A lead like that, and you’re not going to get to him very often,” said manager John Gibbons. “Not this club.”
 +
Shields’ career record against the Blue Jays is 12-6 with 17 quality starts in 23 outings. He’d had complete games in his last two starts at the Rogers Centre and there’s no other way to put it: he schooled some of the Blue Jays young hitters, including Goins.
 +
But Goins turned in another strong game defensively, and in a series full of close calls against the team which had the best pitching statistically in the league coming into the weekend – and stole more bases than any other team in the Majors – the Blue Jays were until Sunday more than up to the task.
 +
This was a home-stand where Dwayne Murphy, the Blue Jays first base and outfield coach, greeted Anthony Gose on the top step of the dugout after he came off the field because Gose alertly held on to the ball instead of trying a desperation throw to third base, keeping a double-play in order.
 +
There was a spring in the Blue Jays step this homestand; they were smart.
 +
Gibbons noticed Goins in spring training,[http://emba.8www.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=776725 How Harper can get over Senate scandals, and four other news stories to watch th], when the Blue Jays had ample opportunity to look at minor leaguers due to the absence of regulars with injury and because of the World Baseball Classic. He makes plays that, in Gibbons’ words, “need to be made in the Majors. He carries himself like he belongs here.”
 +
And so Labour Day finds the Blue Jays out of it and on the road, awaiting some September call-ups. Steve Delabar and Dustin McGowan rejoined the team before Sunday’s game after finishing injury rehabilitation and Delabar announced that he’d used some of his downtime to get a mail-order ordainment as a minister and officiate at his brother’s wedding. The next significant baseball game in Toronto will be played in late March or early April, but in the meantime it’s nice seeing a team that hints every now and then that it believes in itself.</html>

The Minneapolis food manufacturer said the recall concerns only 8-count single and double packages of the refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing. "This action is being taken as a precaution because the dough may contain fragments from a broken piece of plastic on the production line," General Mills said in a release posted on its website Friday. "These products are sold in grocery stores nationally. No other Pillsbury dough products are being recalled."

The products being recalled are Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing that have "better if used by" dates of Oct. 30 and 31, 2013,[http://www.trac.jgameadmin.ch/wiki/index.php?title=Benutzer:Lrbhibskggam#Rays_Down_On_The_Farm-_September_7 Rays Down On The Farm- September 7], and Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing two-packs with "better if used by" dates of Oct. 13, Oct. 26 and Oct. 31,[http://wiking.vulcan.com/smwcon/index.php/User:Lisfylwlbxwp#Obama_defends_NSA_surveillance_programs_anew Obama defends NSA surveillance programs anew], 2013, the company said.

== White House releases proposed new rules for ObamaCare employ ==
 +
 +
<html>The Obama administration on Thursday released new proposals for carrying out a major requirement of the federal health care law that was postponed earlier this summer.
 +
At issue is how to gather information that would allow the government to enforce a requirement that companies with 50 or more workers provide affordable health insurance to their full-time employees. Companies that don't comply would risk fines.
 +
 +
The mandate was supposed to take effect Jan. 1, but in July the White House unexpectedly announced a one-year delay until 2015. Officials said more time was needed to work out information reporting requirements so they would not be too burdensome for businesses. Delaying the mandate also defused a potential political problem for Democrats in next year's congressional elections.
 +
 +
The new proposal from the Treasury Department seeks comment on options to reduce or streamline reporting by employers, insurers and health plan administrators. In some instances,[http://itsarchitektura.cz/wiki/index.php/U%C5%BEivatel:Ltqsgxrbgqay#.27I.27m_sorry.27_Foursomes_Format_a_Challenge_for_U.S._Walker_Cup 'I'm sorry' Foursomes Format a Challenge for U.S. Walker Cup], the administration is proposing to eliminate duplicative reports and in other cases,[http://www.ccua-ipb.org.cn/plus/view.php?aid=1005362 TV Timeout- Friday Night's Alright For Fighting], it's asking for less detail.
 +
 +
Business groups said it will take time to sort through the technicalities but praised the administration's effort to find common ground.
 +
 +
"Retailers are not interested in being overly burdened by bureaucratic red tape or time-wasting, duplicative reporting requirements,[http://wiki.i-rpg.net/U%C5%BCytkownik:Lgpusfmivxmj#Warped_wood_puts_Quarry_Park_derrick_demonstration_on_hold Warped wood puts Quarry Park derrick demonstration on hold]," Neil Trautwein, the top health policy official for the National Retail Federation,[http://www.zydflz.gov.cn/Review.asp?NewsID=288 Tampa Bay at Seattle_0], said in a statement.
 +
 +
The information reported by employers and insurers is also critical in enforcing the law's central requirement that virtually all Americans carry health insurance starting Jan. 1. That so-called individual mandate has not been delayed and remains in full force.
 +
 +
The Treasury Department said it will be soliciting feedback on its proposals through early November, and will use the comments to develop final rules.
 +
 +
Although the one-year delay of the employer coverage requirement remains in effect,[http://prosol2.jp/wiki/index.php?title=%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E8%80%85:Liwizwcinasw#Obama_White_House_needs_to_get_its_message_straight_on_Syria Obama White House needs to get its message straight on Syria], the administration says it hopes employers will voluntarily begin reporting information next year to smooth the transition in 2015.</html>
