I like watching football these days, so I thought, Why not give it a shot and look at it from a different angle? You can t be too original in this gig, but hopefully I ll be able to add something to the game. We ll see if I can pull it off. | ||

But I ve definitely started to read up on the players. I m not going to be able to memorize every player on every team, but I m trying to get familiar with them. Besides that, I just want to speak clearly and not say uhhhhhhh a lot, trying to break a few of those bad habits. | ||

The second year out, I went and started helping out coaching a local high school in Sandpoint, Idaho. That s when it kind of switched for me. I got to see kids that are never going to get on the field with their chin strap buckled all game long, eating Fig Newtons on the sideline while the game is going on, just funny stuff that I didn t see in the NFL. Just getting back to that level and seeing the qualities of the game that attracted me to it as a young kid. Then I happened to turn the TV on and catch the Oregon Ducks, and man, I was hooked watching those guys play that tempo game. It was fun to watch, so I started watching them and eventually started watching other games. | ||
