Special CorrespondentJAMESTOWN Are you real cowgirls? a little girl asked Brooklynn and Makayla Dean when they spotted the sisters cowgirl hats, leather boots and bedazzled belt buckles.Brooklynn, 18, and Makayla, 15, have, in fact, been rodeo cowgirls since they were two.And now, the two sisters from Jamestown are heading to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., where for the first and last time, they will get to compete together at a national level. This competition is special for the two of them, and not just because it s what they ve been working toward all year long. Makayla, who was a freshman at Greeneview High School this past year, helped Brooklynn at all three of her Nationals experiences. But this time she won t be behind-the-scenes help she ll be out there competing, too. As Brooklynn s fourth bout at Nationals, she calls this her last chance. In order to qualify for Nationals, the girls had to place in the top four in each event in their state. Brooklynn qualified in breakaway roping, barrel racing, team roping, and goat tying. Makayla earned her spot in breakaway roping, goat tying and pole bending. Forty-eight states, Australia, and four Canadian provinces will compete in Rock Springs. Ohio s team will be made up of about 25 boys and girls in total, a team much smaller than most that will be there. The trip, with horses Katie and Lady in tow, will take about three days to drive. I have faith, Brooklynn said, when asked how she and her sister will do at Nationals. Ambition, patience, and responsibility are all qualities needed to succeed in rodeo, the girls explained. You ve gotta really want it, Brooklynn said. But most importantly, you need support, she finished. And God on your side, her mother, Cindy Dean, added. Part of the girls routine is to pray together at the start of every competition. The girls attribute much of their success to the support of their family,[http://misterius.ru/wiki/index.php/%D0%A3%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA:Edmisteru54#Board_bases_water_charges_on_rate_of_quantity_used_Hawaii_Ne Board bases water charges on rate of quantity used Hawaii Ne], something they ve always counted on. Brooklynn and Makayla help each other during daily practice, evaluating, criticizing, and pushing each other to improve. During competitions, if one is competing and has two back-to-back events,[http://www.jerseys-ns.net/2011-2012-Club-Holland-PSV-Blue-Home-Jerseys-7779/ 2011-2012 Club Holland PSV Blue Home Jerseys], the other one gets everything ready for her sister s next event. If something breaks or goes wrong at the last minute, they are always there to help each other and their teammates. It s not just an individual sport, it s a team sport, the girls emphasized. Although they do admit that they are competitive with each other, they always strive to make each other better.Rodeo is an all-around family passion for the Deans. Their parents introduced the sport to Brooklynn when she was two, followed by Makayla, and then their little brother Luke. I just got into it and I loved it, Brooklynn said. Even Luke is a big help to them. He s the first to tell us what we re doing wrong, Brooklynn said with a laugh.Danger, of course, is one of the challenges that comes with the sport. You could lose a few fingers roping. Your horse could slip and fall. I had a horse flip on me backwards, once. I was pretty sore the next day, Brooklynn said. Money is another big challenge, especially since they are required to fund their own way out to Nationals. Stress and nerves is a constant part of the sport, too. We just try to keep our heads on straight, Brooklynn said. For the future, the sisters have the same goal: to make it pro. After Nationals, Brooklynn will be able to compete in open rodeos, and she ll start nursing school in the fall. Makayla will continue rodeo for the rest of high school,[http://jucri.jyu.fi/wiki/rdi/index.php/K%C3%A4ytt%C3%A4j%C3%A4:Shimmelne97#Heading_to_the_islands-_Pick_up_some_farm Heading to the islands- Pick up some farm], and dreams of going to rodeo college when she graduates. The girls have earned many awards, including saddles, belt buckles, and breakaway ropes. They also both won Rookie of the Year,[http://www.jerseys-ns.net/Miami-Dolphins-6-Pat-Green-Jerseys-3472/ Miami Dolphins 6 Pat Green Jerseys], which goes to one first-year rider each year. That means a lot, Brooklynn said.Rodeo may seem to consume their whole lives, but they are involved in so much else. They participate in 4-H, are active in their church, play sports in high school, and have 4.0 GPAs. They also give riding and roping lessons for kids. I couldn t be more proud. They have so much to offer. They work hard and support one another, and they have hearts to help others, their mother said. They always look for the little kid who is struggling. Their nine year old cousin, Ellie Harlow, agreed. It s been really cool watching Brooklynn and Makayla. They re my role models. Brooklynn and Makayla say they are excited to compete at Nationals, and owe a lot of their success in life to their sport, and to each other. That s how everything in our lives started rodeo.</body></html> | Special CorrespondentJAMESTOWN Are you real cowgirls? a little girl asked Brooklynn and Makayla Dean when they spotted the sisters cowgirl hats, leather boots and bedazzled belt buckles.Brooklynn, 18, and Makayla, 15, have, in fact, been rodeo cowgirls since they were two.And now, the two sisters from Jamestown are heading to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., where for the first and last time, they will get to compete together at a national level. This competition is special for the two of them, and not just because it s what they ve been working toward all year long. The video starts out with Deedy thrust kicking (front kick) Elderts who is standing near the ATM machine. Deedy s friend Gutowski is away over by the trash can by the sales counter on the other side of Perrine who is sitting next to the trash can. Perrine is the guy Elderts them was supposedly hassling. After the thrust kick,[http://vnprojekt.ph-gmuend.de/mw/index.php/Benutzer:Mondinoo37#Supressed_report_criticizes_Hawaii Supressed report criticizes Hawaii],[http://www.jerseys-ns.net/MLB-Size-Caps-042-10888/ MLB Size Caps-042], you can see Gutowski go straight to where Elderts is standing by the ATM and engages Elderts. During the time Gutowski is scuffling with Elderts you can see Jessica West either standing in front of Deedy or actively restraining him. At this point it is actually two against one as Gutowski and Deedy are actively trying to get at Elderts. All this time Elderts friends are off to the left not involved. Elderts is scuffling with Gutowski by the ATM and Jessica West is seen pushing Deedy back. One of Elderts friends comes to help Elderts and pushes Gutowski out a door as Elderts is clocking Deedy to the ground. Next frame you can see Elderts friend pushing Gutowski down and out the door and to the right of that you can see Elderts knocking Deedy down to the ground. Elderts goes over the help his friend with Gutowski and Deedy is seen getting up and reaching for something in his right back pocket. Deedy is seen pushing Elderts back with his left hand as Gutowski and Elderts friend fight in the background. Next frame you can see Jessica West restraining Gutowski (which would lead me to believe that she knew her boyfriend was at fault) as Elderts and Deedy struggle and move off camera. After that you can basically see everyone scrambling to leave as apparently gunfire erupts .

It's a horrible tragedy, obviously; I can only imagine that this woman was faced with a terrible set of options. Being pregnant is scary, and we can't know what she faced that made her decide to go along with her boss and risk her baby's health. I'm sure she regrets it, but we can be understanding about what her situation might have been.
