XENIA Marlene Johnson was selected by the Xenia Republican Women s Club to be their Honoree at the Ohio Federation of Republican Women OFRW annual Tribute to Women Banquet held Sunday in Dublin.Johnson earned her bachelor s and master s from Indiana University. She worked as a clinical psychologist for five years before leaving to raise her family. She and husband Air Force Lt. Colonel Retired moved between four duty stations before settling near Yellow Springs in 1980.She was a co-founder of the Yellow Springs Christian Association. Starting in 2000, she has distributed voter guides to over 40 local churches. She is a patriot who works tirelessly to promote conservative Republican, pro-life Christian values.Specializing in door-to-door outreach and petition drives, Marlene has been instrumental in getting conservative issues on the ballot, including Issue 1 in 2004, which banned gay marriage and its recognition in Ohio. Marlene has lobbied our state representatives on behalf of the Heartbeat Bill.She worked in the 2000 and 2004 Bush, 2008 McCain and 2012 Romney campaigns. Ohioans to End the Estate Tax recognized Marlene with a medal for her outreach and her testimony before Ohio House and Senate committees; her work on the issue helped to result in the end of the tax as of Jan. 1.
