<html>Facebook Fark Digg Reddit Stumble Joe Downtown: Owner of Eat hungry for newventure Eat restaurant owner Natalie Young at her restaurant in downtown Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 24,2012. By () Tuesday, June 25,[http://www.jerseys-hearts.com/Ducks-15-Ryan-Getzlaf-Premier-white-Home-Jersey-7150/ Ducks 15 Ryan Getzlaf Premier white Home Jersey], 2013 | 1:17 p.m. Map of Eat 707 Carson St., Las Vegas Natalie Young is one happy downtown restaurant owner these days. Her restaurant, Eat,[http://dictionary.imbtarchive.ru/index.php?title=%D0%A3%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA:Albertdghw77#30_arrested_during_miners_union_protest_in_W.Va. 30 arrested during miners union protest in W.Va.], at the corner of Seventh Street and Carson Avenue, has done so well, she said, she plans to open another within the next 12 months. Young said the new restaurant's working name was “White Bread.” It will feature late-night food, including fried chicken. She wants to open it kitty-corner from Eat on the northwest section of the Carson-Seventh Street intersection. “I’ve proven myself with Eat,” she said. Young also said Eat, the first small-business investment of Downtown Project, the multitargeted redevelopment agency whose partners include Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh, was just months away from paying off its portion of a loan taken to create the restaurant. If Young's timetable for opening another restaurant holds true, she will be competing with others scheduled to open in the Downtown Container Park, which is quickly coming together directly across the street from Eat. The Container Park is expected to have five restaurants and/or bars, plus other walk-up eateries. Operators hope to open it before the Life Is Beautiful festival that will extend over two days this fall, Oct. 26 and 27. Eat Natalie Young, former chef for P.J. Clarke, has opened her Downtown Project-funded breakfast and lunch spot.
Brock Radke, the Las Vegas Weekly's restaurant reviewer, rates Eat as No. 17 on his list of the in Las Vegas — possibly because of its potential effect on city's downtown.
Here's what Radke says: "Can a comfy breakfast-and-lunchery bring Las Vegans to a neighborhood they’ve ignored for decades, just for a tasty meal? Will the Zappos/Downtown Project business plan produce success? Can a veteran casino chef find satisfaction doing her own thing in her own place? Eat is in the process of answering all these questions. Pretty important stuff."
June 26, 2013 9:09 a.m. I ve proven myself with Eat, she said. Indeed she has. Looking forward to your new opening and all the best for you, Natalie! June 26, 2013 10:28 a.m. There s hype and there s substance. Unfortunately in Vegas, owners of restaurants, bars and the like believe the masses are easily fooled and they need only coast on their hype to succeed. There are scores of empty million dollar build outs that serve as reminders to the failures of such hubris. Eat started with a lot of hype, but has achieved its success with substance in form of great food and service. Nice to see, and I d wish Natalie continued success, but she doesn t need wishes when she relies upon drive and determination instead. By
June 27, 2013 3:02 p.m. EAT s food is mediocre. Downtown employees and the Zappo s crowd have kept her joint busy because there are so few lunch spots outside a casino downtown now. Tony Hsieh and his staff have sat in the corner and made sure this place would recoup their investment by placing orders to the kitchen. Every time I gave comments to Natalie about her food she dismissed me, so I quit going--heck with her! She does not deserve another restaurant when she cannot manage this one. She is White Bread, folks. Post a comment Commenting requires . Comments are moderated by Las Vegas Sun editors. Our goal is not to limit the discussion, but rather to elevate it.
