== Leaders of western world consider military action in Syria ==

 Everything will come into play this week, he told Le Parisien newspaper. There are several options on the table, ranging from strengthening international sanctions to airstrikes to arming the rebels.

Hollande spoke with President Barack Obama on Sunday and told him France, like Britain, would support him in a targeted military intervention, according to the paper.

 It s still too early to say categorically what will happen, he was quoted as saying. The U.N. experts are going to investigate on site. We also have to allow time for the diplomatic process. But not too much. We can t go without a reaction when confronted with chemical weapons. 

Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said all the options are open. The only option that I can t imagine would be to do nothing.

GERMANY

Germany suggested for the first time it may support the use of force if a chemical weapons attack is confirmed.

 The suspected large-scale use of poison gas breaks a taboo even in this Syrian conflict that has been so full of cruelty, Chancellor Angela Merkel s spokesman, Steffen Seibert, said Monday. It s a serious breach of the international Chemical Weapons Convention, which categorically bans the use of these weapons. It must be punished, it cannot remain without consequences. 

Germany has very clear evidence that this was a chemical weapons attack, Seibert said. RUSSIA

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Western nations calling for military action against Syria have no proof the regime is behind the alleged attack.

Lavrov says the countries calling for action have assumed the role of both investigators and the U.N. Security Council in probing the incident.

 They cannot produce evidence, but keep on saying that the red line has been crossed and they cannot wait any longer, he said at a Moscow news conference.

Lavrov likened the situation in Syria to the run-up before the 2003 Iraq invasion. He warned against military intervention in Syria, saying the use of force without a sanction of the U.N. Security Council is a crude violation of international law.

BRITAIN

Foreign Secretary William Hague said disagreements among the five U.N. Security Council members have prevented any action over Syria from being taken for too long and complete unity wasn t necessary to launch a response.

 We cannot in the 21st century allow the idea that chemical weapons can be used with impunity, he said.

British Prime Minister David Cameron s office said lawmakers could be recalled to debate any potential action over Syria as soon as this week and that Cameron plans to meet with national security advisers Wednesday. Cameron s spokesman said London reserves the ability to take action swiftly if needed. 

Cameron later called Vladimir Putin and told the Russian leader there was little doubt that Syrian forces had been responsible and prevented immediate U.N. access to the site, suggesting they had something to hide, the premier s office said. Both agreed that any use of chemical weapons would merit a serious response from the international community, but Putin said there was no evidence about whether they had been used in Syria and, if so, who was responsible.

TURKEY

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said his country would take part in an international coalition against Syrian President Bashar Assad s regime if the U.N. failed to come up with sanctions to punish Syria for the alleged use of chemical weapons.

Turkey was once a close Syrian ally, but turned into one of Assad s harshest critics and is a key supporter of Syrian rebels. Turkey has repeatedly struck back at Syrian territory in response to shelling, mortar rounds or fire from across the border since shells from Syria struck a Turkish village in October, killing five people.

UNITED NATIONS

Speaking to reporters in the South Korean capital of Seoul, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said if proven, any use of chemical weapons by anyone under any circumstances is a serious violation of international law and an outrageous crime. We cannot allow impunity in what appears to be a grave crime against humanity. 

In New York, U.N. spokesman Farhan Haq said: Despite the passage of a number of days, the secretary-general is confident that the team will be able to obtain and analyze evidence relevant for its investigation of the Aug. 21 incident.

EUROPEAN UNION

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said a decision about military intervention in Syria hasn t been made yet and the support of the U.N. Security Council for any such action remains extremely important. 

Ashton told reporters in Estonia s capital, Tallinn,[http://mam.we.ukm.edu.pl/index.php/User:Rovahomoimi#Ned_Kelly_awards_recognise_hard Ned Kelly awards recognise hard], the world needs to find a political solution for Syria s bloodshed. She said it is difficult for the 28-member EU to reach a joint conclusion, but the bloc is considering various options. 

Ashton said she has stressed the need to end the violence in recent conversations with China and Russia. She also said it is important that U.N. weapons inspectors are allowed to examine the evidence of a possible chemical weapons attack as quickly as possible to reach a conclusion.

UNITED STATES

The Obama administration was expected to toughen its criticism of Syria s alleged chemical weapons use, with Secretary of State John Kerry cutting his vacation short to address the crisis as the U.S. considers possible military actions.

ISRAEL

President Shimon Peres has called on the U.N. to appoint the Arab League to set up a temporary government in Syria to stop the bloodshed.

Peres comments marked the highest-profile Israeli call for international intervention in neighboring Syria. Israel has been careful to stay on the sidelines of Syria s civil war, which has killed more than 100,000. But international demands have been growing for action amid the chemical weapons attack allegations.

Peres said foreigners will not understand what is going on in Syria so the U.N. should task the Arab League with setting up a government.

Is it time to trade up your old smartphone?

== Majority of blacks oppose Obama's Syria policy ==

<html>African Americans have been (and remain) President Obama s most loyal supporters and an almost monolithic voting bloc for both the president and the Democratic Party.
  But two new polls that assess Obama s quest for military action against Syria indicate that the president s Syria policy has caused the first serious breach in his once impenetrable black armor. Indeed, for the first time on any given issue, a majority of blacks not only disagreed with but also disapproved of the president s position. Likewise, a majority of Hispanics oppose a military response to reports that the Syrian government used chemical weapons.
  The numbers are revealing. One Washington Post poll had 40 percent of blacks supporting airstrikes, while 56 percent did not. For Hispanics, the figure was 31 percent supporting but 63 percent opposed.
  And, amazingly,[http://msi.sibsutis.ru/drupal/content/sen-manchin-pushes-45 Sen. Manchin pushes for 45], for the first time since he took office in 2009, whites and blacks tracked almost precisely equal on an issue. For whites, it was 38 percent supporting Obama s proposed attack against Syria, while 58 percent were opposed. This was a telephone survey done between Aug. 28 and Sept. 1 among a random national sample of 1,012 adults.
  A second survey by the Pew Research Center between Aug. 29 and Sept. 1 among 1,[http://lashekinahdejehovainc.org/web/ What would you be willing to trade to get a LT like Eugene Monroe-],000 adults yielded , according to a racial calculus provided to Journal-isms. The numbers of Asian and Native Americans were too small to be included in these results.
  The New York Times :
  A sharply divided Senate committee voted Wednesday to give President Obama limited authority to use force against Syria, the first step in what remains a treacherous path for Mr. Obama to win congressional approval for a military attack. 
  The Washington Post Tuesday  that Rep.  (D-Calif.) was one of 12 key voices in Congress for the Syria debate. Lee is a nationally known and fiercely anti-war liberal. She prevailed upon more than 60 of her congressional colleagues to sign a letter to Obama asking him to seek formal congressional authorization before attacking Syria.

  A black columnist for USA Today agreed with Lee. DeWayne Wickham  on Tuesday, Yes, the 426 children killed by the use of a weapon of mass destruction which most of the world agrees is an unacceptable means of meting out death is a chilling reminder of the indiscriminate brutality of war. But in a conflict in which both sides are accused of committing gruesome war crimes, President Obama should not let himself be bamboozled into plunging this nation down another Middle East rabbit hole. 
  But syndicated columnist Ruben Navarrette Jr. (African American) of the Washington Post Writers Group , We don t have to be the world s policeman, but like it or not we are the world s moral referee. We haven t always done that when we should have, as when the United States turned a blind eye to what was happening in Germany in the 1930s. That s no excuse for refusing to do it now. We defend the powerless and voiceless. This is what America does. It is tough and often thankless work. But it is also indispensable work if we aspire to live in a civilized world. 
  Bridget Johnson, also black, is the Washington editor of something called PJ Media a conservative libertarian news and opinion site. She recently appeared on NPR s Tell Me More program and made this rather :
  You know, this is nauseating that we re having this argument that somehow says a Syrian life is worth less than another life. You know, if this was happening in Brussels right now we would be all over it.   Interestingly, the Pew survey referred to above asked this question: Do you think  has explained clearly why the US should launch military airstrikes against Syrian military targets or has he not explained the reasons clearly enough? 
  Among non-Hispanic whites, 30 percent said yes and 49 percent said not clearly enough; among non-Hispanic blacks, 51 percent said yes and 35 percent said not clearly enough. The remainder said they did not know.
  The White House announced just Friday that the president will address the nation on Tuesday evening in an attempt to make the case for attacking Syria.
  Asked, Do you think US airstrikes in Syria are likely to lead to a long-term US military commitment there?, 62 percent of non-Hispanic whites and 60 percent of non-Hispanic blacks said yes; 26 percent of non-Hispanic whites and 25 percent of non-Hispanic blacks said no.
  Asked, Do you think US airstrikes in Syria are likely to create a backlash against the US and its allies in the region?, 76 percent of non-Hispanic whites and 69 percent of non- Hispanic blacks said yes; 14 percent of non-Hispanic whites and 19 percent of non-Hispanic blacks said no.
  Fifty-seven percent of non-Hispanic whites and 61 percent of non-Hispanic blacks agreed that the US should first get a United Nations resolution to use force before taking military action against Syria. 
  Opinion
  As I have written previously, the bloom is finally off the Obama rose insofar as black people are concerned. The list of disappointments and broken promises is far too long to chronicle, once again, here. But suffice it to say that we have sat back quietly,[http://sun7-forum.co.de/forum/index.php?topic=166172.msg172147#msg172147 Teen battles cancer, raises funds], hopefully, and watched this man put three women on the Supreme Court without even bothering to interview even one black female jurist.
  We have looked on in utter amazement as over and over again Obama goes to bat for gays and gay marriage.
  How can we not help but notice that his No. 1 domestic push these days seems to be immigration reform, while this nation-state s cities and urban enclaves deteriorate at an ever-increasing rate.
  And, Obama has dispatched his attorney general to at least give lip service to the burgeoning, overflowing-with-black-and-brown-bodies jails and prisons. But both of them refuse to make the new sentencing guidelines regarding crack versus powder cocaine retroactive. Thus, thousands upon thousands of low-level, nonviolent, mostly black and brown offenders will remain locked up almost indefinitely.
  Obama s performance at the 50th commemoration of the March on Washington last month seemed perfunctory, overly scripted, and certainly contained no policy prescriptions for what ails black America.
  There are many more issues which affect blacks specifically and directly, but which this first black president has not deigned to address.
  But this latest foray into Syria seems to have been something of a tipping point, for it has brought about a perceptible sea change in black peoples perception of this man. His rhetoric and proposals therefor are damn near identical to the rhetoric and practices of his predecessor, .
  And the thing is, Obama does not seem to notice this change nor even care.

== ‘Bandaloops’ take dancing to the next level at t ==

<html>Onstage, the Bandaloops dance group members are incredibly talented dancers, but what sets them apart is the harness that saves their lives every time they perform at an outside show.
The Bandaloops stage is not horizontal. They perform on the outsides of buildings, mountains and national landmarks. Bandaloops, started back in the 1990s, has gone on many international tours and has performed all over the world. For the second time during the last decade, they are going to visit the Utah Arts Festival and perform on the side of the Salt Lake City Library.
Lisa Sewell is the festival director of the Utah Arts Festival and is excited to bring back Bandaloops.

 It is something that you would never see here in Salt Lake, Sewell said. Rachael Lincoln, assistant artistic director in Bandaloops, has been with the dance troupe for 15 years. She told the story of Amelia Rudolph, who founded Bandaloops 22 years ago. Rudolph had an epiphany about the relationship between climbing and dance when climbing a mountain. The fact that Bandaloops has such a unique way of performing on buildings, Lincoln said, allows the group to touch audiences in an unprecedented way.

 One thing that we are really interested in doing is changing perspectives,[http://maliks.sy2.com/ Proposal to relax anti], Lincoln said. We treat vertical surfaces like (they are) the floor. When (the performance)?is done well, it does something different to the performers brain It s like gravity isn t working the way that we know gravity to work. 

The end result of the new plane of dance is that the audience is forced to open their minds up to new possibilities.

 (We are about) developing moments of disbelief and therefore creativity that wasn t acceptable before, Lincoln said.

 Bandaloops also draws a different demographic of audience then dance groups are generally thought to attract in a theater.

 It is not the same group of audience members that you find everywhere else, Lincoln said. (The audience) is (a) much much more diverse audience.

The Tigers went on to lose, 5-1, to the Chicago White Sox.
Cabrera was ejected for arguing he was hit by a pitch that was instead called a swinging strike.
Cabrera was hit in the right knee by a slider from White Sox pitcher Chris Sale. Cabrera said after the game that he was trying to get out of the way of the pitch and didn?t think he swung.
Cabrera fouled off the next pitch, continued to chirp at Gorman and was then ejected three pitches into his at-bat.

== The 'C' in iPhone 5C doesn't stand for cheap ==

What the "C" doesn't stand for, however, is "cheap."

Some analysts expected the unsubsidized iPhone 5C to debut , which would make it significantly more affordable in markets outside of the United States where carriers don't subsidize the retail cost. Although some carriers like T-Mobile offer consumers unsubsidized phones (which have higher upfront cost but carry lower monthly burdens), for the most part, the iPhone 5C will run you $99 for the 16GB version on a two-year contract.

The New York Times  that a sub-$400, or even sub-$500 iPhone isn't in the cards. In China, the iPhone 5C will start at 4,488 renminbi, or roughly $733, which is a 33 percent markup from the unsubsidized $549 cost here in the United States. "If you look at the price, it's clearly a high-end phone, not a low- or even midrange phone," Jenny Lai, an analyst at HSBC in Taipei, .

So what gives? Typically, the previous year's iPhone model in this case, that would have been the iPhone 5 slides down to occupy the mid-priced slot ($99 on a two-year contract) in Apple's three-phone lineup, while the previous model before that sells for $0 on a two-year contract (in this case, the iPhone 4S).

This year is different, though. Aside from a few tiny spec improvements and the polycarbonate backing (which comes in six colors), the iPhone 5C is essentially the same phone as the iPhone 5, which it is replacing in the middle slot.

Splitting the iPhone lineup into two clearly demarcated iPhones isn't entirely unprecedented. "Historically, Apple has done quite well for itself using mid-tier products with lots of aspirational appeal to draw budget-conscious consumers into a higher price range," . In China, where Apple products have always been more expensive compared to the United States due to the country's value-added taxes, which hover at 17 percent, some analysts think the iPhone 5C's steep price markup could potentially give Apple more pricing maneuverability in the future. It seemed like the mother of all Russian diplomatic pranks: just one day after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov proposed that Syria give up its chemical weapons to international control in exchange for the U.S. calling off strikes, an idea that was embraced in Washington as well as Damascus, Russian diplomats reportedly signaled that they might oppose that very same plan at the United Nations.

Alerts from  and , citing the French foreign minister,[http://www.postup.lg.ua/sept-11-remembrances-still-take-many-forms Sept. 11 remembrances still take many forms], said that Russia was uncomfortable with the idea of a binding United Nations Security Council resolution to enforce their own plan. Reuters  that Russia would only support a non-binding presidential statement, which is a step up from a press release.

Why on earth would Russia work to undermine its own plan just 24 hours after first proposing it? There are three ways to think about this: the optimistic view, the pessimistic view and the middle-ground.

Many observers are likely to take the pessimistic view: that Russia never seriously planned on following through with its proposal to scoop up Syria s chemical weapons. This has all been a shell game from the start, a ploy to delay U.S. strikes and box in President Obama while Syria continues acting with impunity. This is just the start of a Russian strategy of dangling deals in front of the U.S. and then yanking them away. Russia knows that many members of Congress will pressure Obama to pursue the proposal, even if Obama believes it s just a bluff. That could spark even more disagreement within the U.S. and delay strikes further, maybe indefinitely.

The optimistic view is that this is just a negotiating tactic, a wholly foreseeable play by Russian diplomats who really do want to see their plan go through but also want to make sure they have a hand in crafting it. By feinting away from support, Russia can force the three Western members of the UN Security Council (France, the U.S. and Britain) to give Moscow some concessions on the plan. That debate will likely turn on whether the plan would be authorized under ,[http://forum.hurricanes-dbc.com/ Curiyo Is a Valuable Tool for Web Browsing], which  and which could permit for the use of force against Syria if it doesn t comply. And now the middle-ground take: Russia s primary goal is to stave off U.S. strikes. If it can do that with a little bit of delaying and bluffing at the United Nations, then in Moscow s view that s great. If it has to let through some kind of UN Security Council authorization to seize Syria s chemical weapons, it will accept that too. In this reading, Russia s goal is to make any UN action against Syria s chemical weapons as minimal as possible. If true, this is actually good for the U.S., because it gives President Obama lots of leverage with Moscow as long as he can credibly threaten U.S. strikes.   The most disturbing evidence is that some of the blood had saliva mixed in it, which indicates to Trista that her daughter suffered before she died. It indicates to me that the girl was bleeding out of her mouth -- either from a wound in her mouth or internal bleeding that she was coughing up while dying.
