== Man hits police with car, crashes in ditch 0 ==

<html>SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- Police say a man accused of hitting two police officers with a car has been charged with attempted murder. 
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan police spokesman Julian Miller says 26-year-old Sean Andrew Joint was a passenger in a car that was in a minor accident Wednesday night. Police say a friend came to help Joint and he jumped in their car and drove away. 
Miller says Joint turned the car around and charged at two officers. Police say they're unsure of Joint's motive. 
Miller says the vehicle landed in a watery ditch on Hunter Army Airfield property. 
Police pulled Joint from the sinking car and Chatham County jail records show he's being held without bond. It's unclear if he has an attorney. 
One officer was treated for minor injuries and another is hospitalized.

Louisville Gives New Conference Title Contender
For a newly-branded league still in the midst of transition, it’s not a bad way to debut: The American Athletic Conference (nee: Big East) can make a name for itself immediately if Louisville lives up to expectations.

There was much griping last season that Tottenham were a one-man team, but that was never the full story. What is significant about those six games Bale turned with late goals is that they all came after Christmas.
In fact, of the 26 goals he scored in all competitions last season, only seven were scored before December 25. Even if, as now seems likely, they miss out on Willian, gazumped by a Chelsea side who seem to be stockpiling attacking midfielders, they appear to be on the verge of signing the promising Argentine Erik Lamela, 21. Although he may take time to settle, he offers pace and goals cutting in from the flanks.
Given the business Spurs have done already this summer signing Nacer Chadli, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Roberto Soldado with Lamela, they would almost certainly be a stronger squad than last season, even without Bale.
The worry, though, is that his ability as a match-winner would have been lost, and with it some of the club's lustre.
