 El-Rufai had blamed the commission for some of the country s economic woes, accusing it of being lax about fulfilling its role.

 According to state records, there were 707 licensed barbers in the state in 2001. The number has has dropped every year since, to 444 in 2012, a decline of 37 percent.
 In the last few years alone, a number of community barbers, beloved for their colorful names and personalities, have given their final shave, according to Morning Sentinel archives.
 In 2010, Waterville lost 85-year-old Al the Barber, World War II veteran Alcide Fecteau; in 2011, 72-year-old Augusta barber Albenie Dufour, and Fairfield's Jeff the Barber Williams, who ran his shop for 41 years, both died.

Frank Ejizu said the company was directed by reputable experts and professionals in the welding construction industry to Bradama International Skill Works Limited, because of the laudable heights it has attained in a very short period of operations.

He added that they would soon make another visit to audit the facilities, with a view to partnering with them, so that the training and certification could be of international standard.

Samsung Heavy Industries plans to bring in experts from Korea, to train the ex-militants, so they could have the prerequisite training and experience.

��It is not our intention to take over the centre, but we will partner with the centre to churn out highly-skilled welders, who will be able to stand tall among their colleagues all over the world. Ours is a company that believes that Nigerians, with relevant qualification, should be able to compete in the industry anywhere.

��The gain is that the trainees, apart from being well-trained, will ultimately stand the chance of being employed in our ship-building projects, while others with the upgrade modern knowledge in welding should be able to work for reputable companies all over the world.

Ajube, while welcoming the Samsung Heavy Industries team to the centre, said he was glad the centre had been so honoured by a reputable company like Samsung Heavy Industries and the achievements of Bradama over the last three years, had certified it a reputable training centre, not only in Nigeria, but in Africa.

��We are pleased to have the Samsung Heavy Industries�� team at the centre and we are optimistic that the arrangement will materialise and I will be happy to see our trained graduates working for established companies like Samsung Heavy Industries in the nearest future,�� Ajube stated.

Trainees of the centre, who spoke to journalists, said they are happy at the kind of training they receive at the centre and praised the management of the centre for being up-to-date in their allowances; while they also applaud the facilities available at the centre.

Preye Francis, a trainee at the centre, said some ex-militants, who went to Malaysia to acquire training in welding and fabrication, confessed that their trainings were no where near what was available at Bradama and they are trying to reapply to be trained at Bradama.

The new cub had a full stomach, and veterinarians reported that it has been digesting its food, zoo spokeswoman Pamela Baker-Masson said on Sunday. Its heartbeat is steady and its lungs appear to be functioning properly.

Mei Xiang gave birth to a cub last year after several years of failed breeding, but the cub died after six days. Its lungs hadn’t fully developed and likely weren’t sending enough oxygen to its liver.

Following that disappointment, zookeepers changed their protocols for newborn pandas in consultation with Chinese breeders. A DNA sample was collected to determine the cub’s paternity. Mei Xiang was artificially inseminated with sperm from Tian Tian, the male panda at the National Zoo, and a panda named Gao Gao at the San Diego Zoo.

Zoo officials aren’t sure what prevented the stillborn cub from developing, but it had abnormalities around its head and was missing its brain. Results from a necropsy won’t be known for several days.</html>
