South Bend did not pick up a base hit after Lang s one-out triple in the fourth inning until he came to the plate with two outs and the bases empty in the 12th.

Lang bunted for a base hit and stole second on the first pitch to put the winning run in scoring position. Pedro Ruiz followed with a line drive single to right field. Dayton s Beau Amaral charged the ball and made a strong accurate throw home, but Lang s slide beat the tag as South Bend celebrated a walk-off win.

Dragons pitchers allowed no hits and only one base runner over a seven inning stretch from the fifth through the 11th before the Silver Hawks scored in the 12th. Dragons reliever Jesus Adames (1-2) surrendered the run to absorb the loss.

The Dragons scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead, getting one run on a wild pitch and another on a run-scoring single by Junior Arias.

South Bend answered with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-2 lead. After the teams traded runs over the next two innings, the Dragons tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth when Amaral doubled, went to third on Sammy Diaz s sacrifice,[Official http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-c-598], and scored on Jesse Winker s ground out to make it 4-4.

The Dragons threatened to take the lead in the ninth inning when Joe Hudson walked and Tanner Rahier singled him to second with no one out. But Humberto Valor failed to get a bunt down and then grounded into a double play, and Brent Peterson struck out to end the threat.

Dragons starting pitcher Nick Travieso tossed a career-high six innings and allowed four runs on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

He pitched well at times. In the third inning, South Bend put runners at second and third with no one out, and Travieso responded by striking out the next three batters to work out of the jam. Three of the four runs against Travieso came in the first inning.

The Dragons collected eight hits. Amaral and Arias each had two. Dragons reliever Kyle McMyne worked an electrifying two innings, retiring all six batters he faced while notching four strikeouts.

Their love affair is with smart phones, not cars.

Is there evidence of this trend at the local level?
Data firm Scarborough Research surveys thousands of people in the Seattle metropolitan area on the ways they get around.? The data indicate that among younger people there has indeed been a shift away from driving and it s happening at a fast pace.
Today, 80 percent of adults under 35 in the Seattle metro say that driving is a primary mode of transportation for them.? In 2008 just five years ago that number was at 90 percent.
In the same period of time, there have been significant increases in the percentage of young people here who walk in town at least one mile per week, and who regularly ride the bus.

BEAVERCREEK After a recent scoreless battle with Atlanta, the Dayton Dutch Lady Lions are now (4-1-2) with two tough road games in front of them.

In the first half against Atlanta, the Lady Lions were patient and played their possession style ball. In the 18th minute a steal in the midfield by Emilie Fillion, to make it three against two, gave the Dutch Lions the upperhand. The pass was sent out to Juliana Libertin on the left who found Kathryn Dolesh across the field, a touch a little too far out allowed Atlanta to block the shot.

Atlanta countered with an attempt of their own in the 22nd minute, Atlanta s Kansas Bayly sent the ball over the Dayton defense to Savannah Jordan who made a great run but the attack ended with an offsides call. A yellow card in the 31 on Atlanta s Hastings gave Dayton an opportunity on the 20 yard line. Fillion rocketed the shot on target, but the Silverbacks keeper Jamie Simmons was able to get a finger on it to tip it over the goal. Despite numerous attempts at goal from both sides, great defending on both ends left the game scoreless at the half.

Atlanta came out strong and fast in the second half going on the attack immediately in the 45th minute but the shot by Lexi Hastings from 20 yards out flew over the crossbar. A serve in from the right side in the 54 by Stacey Balaam had Dayton beat with Atlanta s Jamie Pollack and Cherie Sayon both vying for the ball in the box,[Nike http://www.nfljerseysfor2013.com/nfl-jerseys-new-york-giants-c-598_657], but Dayton s defense stepped in and neither could put a head on it.

Dayton countered in the 60th minute with a ball sent up from Abby Pearson to Fillion who slipped behind the Silverbacks defense but the shot rolled off her foot and was easily handled by the Atlanta keeper. The game ended scoreless with each team taking a point.

Coach van Druenen summed up the performance by his Lady Lions.

 I think it was a game with two halves. Atlanta came with a specific plan. They wanted to defend as much as possible, compact as much as possible. They were hoping for that one chance that they didn t really get because we were also defending strongly, he said. It took us 45 minutes to know what to do, we came to the second half with a different game plan and I think we did better. The message is clear, we have a trip to Charlotte on Friday.
