We found cheap homes for sale all around the country. My wife Ana and I were on the drive round the country. It had been a secondary, but we looked at houses too, and ordered one-in a terrific little town in the mountains of western Montana. It cost $17,500, and after $2000 to correct it up, we lived there for several months before selling it for $28,000. We liked Anaconda. Where else is it possible to fly fish, go-to a three-dollar film in a old art-deco theatre (the fifth most beautiful in the nation, based on the Smithsonian), drop some nickles in a slot machine, eat at a good restaurant, visit the club for a dollar beer, and get a home for under $30,000 - all within a four block area! There are good schools and churches, a library with rapid websites, and wildlife (including bears) a few hundred yards from downtown. Why Exist Inexpensive Houses For Sale? There are low priced homes in Anaconda, and regional Butte since there are not many good jobs. I quickly found careers in Anaconda - however not great people. This explains why people left the region in the 80's, following the mines and smelters shut. Thirteen per cent of the &quot;housing units&quot; in Anaconda are bare, according to the 2000 U.S. census. It has driven down the home prices significantly. Since it still has most of the standard ammenities, is cleaner now, and is gradually recovering, it is a fantastic place to retire to or to go to if you have an internet or other non-location-based business. An undesirable regional economy is the reason you can purchase cheap houses in several parts of the country. These are cities which have seen troubled moments, but are usually recovering, often with good reasons. Anaconda, like, now has, along with it's a ski-resort, lovely mountain scenery and a Jack Nicholas greens. Homes cost four times the maximum amount of an hour or so in any direction, and these prices are bound to reach Anaconda fundamentally. Low priced Homes You may not Want To Buy You will find towns just like the one in South Dakota where we stopped for lunch one day. A bulletin board had advertisements for inexpensive houses for sale by desperate people trying not to be the last to depart town. There is an image of the lovely old five-bedroom farmhouse for $11,000. As we ate, we looked up the empty road and noticed that all of the buildings were boarded-up. This is a dying village, with nothing to help fix it. A free of charge house wouldn't be a good enough reason to go here. Inexpensive House For Sale - Our Conditions There are many wonderful towns, from Florida to Oregon, where there are inexpensive houses on the market. After our Montana knowledge, we started a website about them. What does a community need in order to make our number? The conditions are certainly subjective, but include at the least the following: 1. Population of 4,000 to 80,000. 2. Good collection. 3. Good supermarket. 4. Cinema. 5. The town features a good &quot;feel&quot; to it. After much research, we found several areas that met our criteria, including some with homes at under $30,000. There really are wonderful towns out there where you could find cheap houses on the market.
