Coral World claims the dolphinarium will enhance their ecotourism product by creating this state of the art venue. They anticipated that this new venue will attract more than 25,000 to 35,000 new visitors per year to the Virgin Islands economy, specifically on St. Thomas. They claim there will be an additional 25 persons employed according to their environmental assessment report that was submitted to the Department of Planning and Natural Resources. And also, they claim that this new exhibit of dolphins to Coral World operation will generate additional revenues for the Virgin Islands Government treasury.

This could also have an impact on the dolphins' health because the surrounding watershed is so congested with development. Believe me, Water Bay is a dumping ground for human activity on land.
Then we have the marine environment. Coral World plans to relocate large number of boulder coral, which will soon be listed under US Endangered Species Act. Does this make sense? Also, Coral World claimed that corals outside the footprint of their project would not be impacted by the development due to the flushing mechanism of the enclosure area for the dolphins. Who are they fooling?

On a light note, Coral World is trying to capture visitors to their ecotourism business, for which I applaud them. However, we shouldn't be a "copy cat" because our neighbor next door Tortola has a dolphinarium. Our awareness of what that freedom could mean became the foundation on which we built upon to gain the strength we needed to get through Reconstruction, Sam Crowe, the civil rights movement, integration and beyond.
Some of our ancestors seized upon their newfound freedom as a way to strike out in the world. Some, however, stayed mired in the dysfunctional relationship with their now former masters, choosing what they know over what could be. They knew the law said they were free but they didn't know it.
That is a mentality that some of us perpetuate today. There are those who don't know we are free to be whoever we want to be. We are free to exercise the same rights as any other citizen of this country. We are free to demand that we be respected. We are free to think for ourselves and take responsibility for our own decisions.
Juneteenth reminds us that there will always be those who will seek to deny you your due so that they can have more than they deserve. There will always be those who seek to steal from you or to profit from your efforts.

BOSTON, Mass. — A man found dead in an industrial park about a mile from New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s house was a semi-pro football player with connections to Hernandez, his family said Wednesday.

Ursula Ward said police told her the body was that of her son Odin Lloyd, who played for the Boston Bandits.

“My son is a wonderful child,” she said, crying as she spoke outside the family’s home in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood. “He’s a family guy. He hasn’t done anything to hurt anyone.”

Ward would not say how Lloyd knew Hernandez and did not say if police told her how her son died. Earlier, an uncle said Lloyd had a connection to Hernandez but wouldn’t elaborate.

State police returned for the second day Wednesday to Hernandez’s sprawling home in an upscale subdivision in North Attleborough, on the Rhode Island state line not far from the [http://www.jerseys-hearts.com/Patriots-18150/ Patriots]’ stadium in Foxborough. They referred questions about their investigation to Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, who released no information about the case.

Hernandez attorney Michael Fee acknowledged media reports about the state police search of Hernandez’s home as part of an investigation but said he and the player wouldn’t have any comment on it.

Sports Illustrated, citing an unidentified source, reported Tuesday that Hernandez was not believed to be a suspect in what was being treated as a possible homicide.

Two troopers knocked on the door of Hernandez’s house Wednesday morning, but no one answered. The night before, police spent hours there as another group of officers searched the industrial park.

Later Wednesday, at least seven state troopers searched both sides of a road just off the street where Hernandez lives. The officers used thin poles to pull back plants and search through undergrowth along the road.

Hernandez returned home during the early afternoon Wednesday, wearing a Patriots sweatshirt and a red hat and carrying what looked like a sports drink. He did not speak to a crowd of reporters staked out about 100 feet away.

The Patriots drafted Hernandez out of Florida in 2010. Since then, he has combined with Rob Gronkowski to form one of the top tight end duos in the NFL. He missed 10 games last season with an ankle injury and had shoulder surgery in April but is expected to be ready for training camp. Last summer, the Patriots gave him a five-year contract worth $40 million.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said the team did not anticipate commenting publicly during the police investigation.

Sports Illustrated reported that the link between Hernandez and the case was a rented Chevrolet Suburban with Rhode Island plates that police had been searching for. The Associated Press could not independently confirm the report.

Lloyd’s neighbor Larry Connors said a black Suburban with Rhode Island license plates was towed out of the yard of Lloyd’s house after his body was found. Lloyd had been driving it for a few days, but Connors had never seen it before that.

Neighbor Paul Sandefur, a retired transit police officer, said he had known Lloyd since he was in diapers and was at a loss to explain what might have led to his death.

“We conversed every day,” Sandefur said. “He’d tease me about coming over to play basketball because I used to tell all the kids I could beat them. He was an exceptional kid. It’s just inconceivable that something would happen to him.”

Both neighbors thought Lloyd worked in construction, and neither knew of any connection between him and Hernandez.

Bandits coach Olivier Bustin, who last saw Lloyd on Saturday at a team scrimmage and heard on Tuesday he had been killed, said he never knew him to be in trouble.

“He was a personable guy, just a guy who was well-liked by everybody on the team,” said the coach, who said Lloyd didn’t start but played a big role on defense.

The surfer with the GoPro and the standing surfer exchange words and obscene gestures. Then the board belonging to the standing surfer shoots across the wave, just missing the GoPro surfer. The wave passes. The two surfers paddle toward one another, yelling.

"The other guy" will for the purposes of this column be known as Angry Surfer. Nobody knows his name but he's been seriously harshing the mellow vibe among the growing community of bore-tide riders in Turnagain Arm. Longtime surfers hope his attitude isn't a sign of what's to come as riding the tide becomes more popular.
Hostile, territorial surfer behavior known as "localism" is nothing new, particularly in places where beaches are crowded, like Hawaii or California, said Scott Dickerson, a Homer native who runs the online surf community,[http://cgi.tako.ne.jp/~friends/bbs3/light.cgi?res=8483%2520zumba%2520fitness%2520dvd%2520http Article Marketing  The Ways In Which Article Inter], .
The usual scenario is that a group of locals intimidate interlopers, he said. But in Turnagain Arm the last few weeks, the issue is one guy who seems to be threatening everyone he runs into. By all accounts, he's a pretty good surfer. But he gets so unhinged that people who've crossed him suspect he is crazy or high. Some worry he might turn seriously violent.
Until now, localism has not been much of a problem in the Arm, where a growing tribe of wetsuit-clad surfers, paddleboarders and kayakers come regularly to catch a single wave--created by the changing tides-- that can carry them for miles, he said. Maybe a dozen people regularly surf the tide, and dozens of others surf less frequently. Catching the bore tide on a paddleboard has also become popular, bringing out more people than ever before. Regulars tend to know each other on sight.
It's possible Angry Surfer is a sign that things are getting too crowded, and that's leading to frustrations that might soon become wider-spread. One of the weirdest things about Angry Surfer is that even though he's a fierce localist, it's really hard to tell if he is, in fact, local, Dickerson said. He kind of came out of nowhere.
"Nobody knows him and I know all the regular bore-tide surfers," Dickerson said.
Most of the time tide riders are giving high-fives and taking video of each other, he said. He has never heard of a conflict anywhere close to what has been happening with Angry Surfer. His attitude is way out of the ordinary, he said
"Adam," the guy with the GoPro, didn't want his last name in print, fearing that Angry Surfer might look him up on Facebook and get violent in retaliation for putting the incriminating video on YouTube. (Had the Angry Surfer's board hit him during their altercation, it could have knocked him out. And that could have been deadly. He wasn't eager to experience that again, he said.) Alaska State Troopers have taken at least one report recently about a hostile surfer making threats, according to trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters.
"I don't know this dude" Adam told me Tuesday. "... He's a violent person that just snaps for nothing."
Surfers everywhere observe a generally understood etiquette on the water, Dickerson explained.
"If somebody is on the wave in the ideal position before you, you should give them right of way, and you shouldn't get in their way if you can help it," Dickerson said.
Some people online have criticized Adam for not observing the etiquette and getting in Angry Surfer's way. Sometimes run-ins like theirs are hard to avoid, Dickerson said.
"Those people don't understand the situation," he said.
The bore tide is different from waves at a surfing beach, he said. The tidal wave constantly changes form. A person can be in the ideal position for a little while and then not be, he said. And the bore tide wave moves for miles, so you can ride the wave for a while and then come up on someone else waiting to catch it. It can be frustrating, if you're an advanced surfer, to run into an amateur who doesn't get out of your way. And, because the wave only comes twice on a day with perfect conditions, the stakes are high.
Jeff Hoke, an Anchorage firefighter who lives in Girdwood, has been surfing the bore tide regularly for 10 years. He ran into the Angry Surfer last week, he said. Both of them were standing on shore and they talked about taking opposite sides of the wave so they wouldn't get in each other's way, Hoke told me. As he was paddling out, the guy turned ornery, Hoke said. He told Hoke to stay out of his way. Angry Surfer yelled that he was 43 years old and that Hoke (who is 35) should "respect his elders," Hoke said.
When Hoke objected to the guy's tone, the guy said, "Well, I'll shoot you in the f---in' face," Hoke said.
Hoke wasn't expecting that. (Later he considered reporting the threat to the troopers but wasn't sure what he'd say. He couldn't identify the guy except that he had light hair and was, apparently, 43.)
The wave was coming, distracting them both. Hoke told the guy they could finish their conversation in the parking lot. I'm not sure exactly what Hoke meant by "finish the conversation," but Angry Surfer didn't want to find out.
"He actually got off the wave early and snuck up the rocks so I couldn't find him," Hoke said.
