Comme bon nombre de pilotes, '''Jarno Pirelli''' débutat par le karting assez tardivement à l'âge de 16 ans. Trés vite il fut considérer comme un jeune prometteur. Son caractère trop réservé lui à joué pas mal de tour notamment dans la prise de risques lors de grand prix.

Malgré ces lacunes, il intègre une écurie de F2 un an seulement aprés avoir débuté en karting, où il débutera comme pilote essaieur durant 2 saisons. A 19 le volant de numéro 2 lui ai donné. Il restera dans l'ombre de son co-équipier durant toute la saison jusqu'a sa première victoire innatendu en grand prix.
