Posted: 04 Apr 2008 08:55 pm Post subject: Are Associate or Youth Pastors second class in their calling -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is not God excellent? There are occasions when we can get upset with those about us and only turn to A single who is True and loving. I have had the pleasure of serving as a Youth Pastor and as a Senior Pastor. I have noticed slights and social Faux Pas on the portion of other individuals. Be taught more about [http://www.firstlightchurch.com.au/ home page] by browsing our astonishing link. What I have gleaned is there is a sense from some Senior Pastors that their calling is somehow far better than these of a Youth or Associate Pastor. We 1st have to comprehend that God, who is great, is The 1 who calls us into a new life in His Son The Lord Jesus Christ. Our church in East Longmeadow Massachusetts ( ) has a maxim that we unofficially put into every single effort. "All to maturity, some for service." We are all referred to as to be mature believers in Christ. Some, by Gods' (yes I meant to place a comma on the correct side of the "s" displaying plural possessive) grace are known as to be ministers. As a named-out minister we are a present to the neighborhood church.1 God gave us to the local churches that we serve in. The times that I have been asked, "How do you know you are known as?" I have answered, "You will be miserable if you never preach or minister. If you are named by God and you don't pursue his calling you will be miserable till you submit to God and pursue His will for your perform in His vineyard." Speaking of operate, one particular day, while attending a Pastor's fellowship (I was a Youth Pastor at the time), a Senior Pastor from yet another church asked my Senior Pastor for support with setting up for lunch. The other Pastor yelled across the area, "Hey Bro. ____. Why never you grab your man and aid me with these chairs." My Pastor did not consider anything about what the man had stated. I wanted to shout, Hey Pastor ____. I'm God's man, not this man or any man on earth. I work for One particular. This man happens to sign my paycheck and I am accountable to him.. perhaps I was just getting a bit too sensitive at the time. Until I went to a Pastors fellowship in a diverse state, where no one knew me. To compare additional information, please consider peeping at: [http://www.firstlightchurch.com.au/About-us.aspx company web site] . As I was a bit early and alone, I approached a group of men who have been cutting up and laughing. As I approached them, I introduced myself as Pastor Stevens from Springfield, MA. They all went around and introduced themselves as Senior Pastors and welcomed me. When they asked me which church I Pastored, I answered that possibly they misunderstood me, I clarified that I was a Associate Pastor. There was an audible quieting of their jesting with me. They every in turn stopped and avoided talking with me, even although I interjected on a handful of points that they created. I was becoming treated as a second class citizen. At some point they all avoided eye make contact with with me for the rest of my go to. How about you? As a Senior Pastor have you ever looked down your nose at someone who was some thing other than a Senior Pastor? Or as an Associate, you have been treated as a second class citizen? Or are you that Senior Pastor that remembers what it was like to be treated that way when you were an Associate. Sincerely Pastor John Stevens.
