As for the exterior of the home, spend time looking around your area at different homes or look in architecture magazines and books. Take care not to duplicate a copyrighted set of plans.<br>Follow in the footsteps of Steve Jobs - foster interaction through an open floor plan. At the Apple-owned Pixar building, Jobs placed everything important - the mailboxes, the coffee shop, the cafeteria - in an atrium in the center of the building. This brought together employees who wouldn't otherwise have a reason to meet. Jobs recognized that an open floor plan throws together people in a positive way.<br>Passers by should not be able to view the dining room. There should be no beams looming from the ceiling. The best ceiling is one which is flat. There should not be any protrusions. The rooms must not have any turns. Rounded edges are proffered to sharp ones. According to the Feng Shui house plans, the staircase can't lead directly to the door. This takes good luck out of the home. It can't lead to the toilet lest good fortunes are flushed away. Two or more doors should not face each other.<br>One of the advantages of the timber frame house is off-the shelf which will keep your cost down considerably. You can add your own ideas and make out the layouts as per the available space. Timber frame work for all enclosure systems. All other structural panels can go well with timber frame work. It matches with all kind of wall colors and brings a beautiful experience.<br>Because Earth-sheltered home design is so unique, it can be had to compete with conventional building. However, taking on your own design and building of the project can help lessen the cost to actually making it comparable to conventional prices. Priced around $75-100 a square foot this can even be cheaper than other higher end green homes.<br>If you really want to be sure you will get your plans approved, the second best thing you can do is have an architectural engineer look at your design and sign off on it. It may cost a few hundred dollars.
